Do you think, will we see something about the PAK-FA at Indian airshow.I hope to see at least some brochures!!!Sukhoi officials started to talk about PAK-FA at British airshow and maybe they can show the first pictures at Indian airshow!!!This show is very important for Mig corporation and I think they need to show the world they are working on the PAK-FA’s Indian version.Since 2007 we couldn’t see anything without signed agreements and still there is planning one more agreement mid 2009!!!When will they start full developmentit’s confusing. There passed two years but it seems that they still couldn’t fully specify the Indian airfoce’s needs at this aircraft:))

Indian authorities are also planning to start development of MCA but in my opinion they aren’t starting the work with planning the support from USA or Europe like you!!!:)

ADA plans to develop medium combat aircraft with IAF

Bangalore, Feb 03: Aeronautical Development Agency, a Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) lab, plans to design and develop a medium combat aircraft with “stealth features” in partnership with Indian Air Force, an ADA official said on Tuesday.

“We are working with (Indian) Air Force as to what their requirement is”, ADA Director P S Subramanyam told PTI here.

“They (IAF) are also coming forward to evolve the specifications of medium combat aircraft…what we call next generation fighter aircraft,” Subramanyam said.

He said it would be in the 20-tonne category, twin-engine aircraft, likely to be powered by the Kaveri-Snecma engine. “It will have stealth features,” he said.

“It’s going to be a joint activity (between ADA and IAF) from beginning”, Subramanyam said, adding “it’s good that even Air Force is also feeling that we should take up this programme”.

Meanwhile, he also said the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas has started flying with weapons, and integration of radars would be completed by next month.

“Once I do that, more or less system development activity (of LCA-Tejas) is completed”, he added.

No and I think the whole Joint Development thing between Russia and India absurd. The aircraft is past its design stage and there is very less to be gained.

It would serve India better to develop a fifth gen fighter on its own with assistance from European/Israeli firms.

I think you aren’t fallowing the news, there are too much problems at the development of LCA Tejas.Just problem is not the engines. And I would like to say you no one country without Russia is not sharing their key technologies at 5th generation aircraft. And this 2017 year can be better for India because of they can start the work from the begining stage.

EADS to join LCA programme; agreement in next three months news

    03 February 2009

New Delhi: In an attempt to speed up some aspects of the LCA programme, India is likely to offer European consortium EADS a $20 million contract to provide technical help in the flight trials of the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme. Even as reports in the media suggest that the deal may be signed during the forthcoming AeroIndia 2009 air show, commencing 11 February at Yelahanka, Bangalore. DRDO sources suggested very likely the deal could be inked sometime over the next three months.

Technical and commercial bids for the deal had been invited from EADS, Saab of Sweden, Dassault of France, Boeing and Lockheed Martin of the United States, and MiG Corp. of Russia.

Through the deal DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Agency expects the shortlisted company, in this case EADS, to help speed the LCA’s flight testing through its initial operational clearance (IOC) and final operational clearance (FOC) phases.

The areas of cooperation could include flight envelope expansion; testing for high angle of attack; aero database validation; external stores carriage with emphasis on stores separation; wake modeling and penetration flight tests; and refinements to existing simulation models.

The LCA programme is currently entering the weapons integration stage and the first lot of aircraft are expected to be inducted into the Indian Air Force (IAF) by 2010. The IAF has ordered 20 of these aircraft in the initial phase.

DRDO expects to achieve initial operational clearance with the help of a indigenously developed multimode radar integrated with a weapons suite. It is estimated that FOC could take three years, and an additional 1,500 hours of flight testing, to achieve.

The LCA is a single-seat, single-engine, supersonic multirole air superiority fighter jet of the fourth generation.

It means that Russia haven’t get money from the Indian side for the development of PAK-FA yet as somebody says!!!The biggest problem at the Russian aviation industry is lack of the too much qualified and talented people because of the salaries and another factors. Now they have just enough talented engineers, technicians and workers for the development of the Russian version. But after the finish of the first prototypes in my opinion they will start the development of the Indian version together with the Indian side.

If I were a fighter aircraft pilot I wouldn’t want to be a pilot of an Chinese aircraft today.I don’t trust the reliability and quality of Chinese aircrafts.I think we should wait at least 10 or 15 years for seeing the quality and the reliability of the Chinese aircrafts.Maybe in the future maybe after 20-25 years later they can create rather competitive aircarfts but not today!!!!But somebody says Chinese 5th gen. aircraft will be a competitor to the F-22 or PAK-FA.In my opinion it will just look like a fifth generation aircraft.Even today I read a news that Russia and China signed a agreement about to supply more than 100 engines for J-10 aircraft.

F-22 can live very diffucult moments with this aircarft:))Russia is planning first flight for 2009 and mass production in 2015.But the process in Iran is looking like ultra fast.January 30 is the first flight, mass production will start in March. It means that this aircraft is perfect from the first flight:)

I think Ruaf will get small amount of su 27SM and su 35BM.Because after 20 years later all flanker designs will be outdated and Ruaf will need to get a new and cheaper 5th generation aircraft. And at that time Ruaf will start to get Mig corporations lightweight 5th generation aircraft. Its also explained by the UAC president Mr.Fedorov that after compliation the PAK-FA they are going to start the work of lightweight 5th generation aircarft.
