Airband scanners are illegal, but I have seen them used often on the perimeter. I would not use them at the DUS visitors terrace though. If only because you have to pass an X-ray device.

    Same BTW for Belgium.

Am I the only one stupid enough to have carried airband scanners through x-ray screening at airports in about 4 different countries with no problem at all?

May I christen the new thread by saying, what made me swear today is looking out of the window to find it pouring down with rain here in Edinburgh. There goes my outdoor plans then!

Basically they have moved Reykjavik to GLA… so all feeder flights from Europe come to Glasgow then pax onward to the states board a US bound flight at GLA, any pax wishing to actually stay in Iceland fly to Akureyri and land travel (400 miles) to Reykjavik.
Same in reverse for the inbound US flights, change a/c at GLA and on to final destination.
Sun is threatening to come out here 😀

Cheers for the explanation there! Sadly I wont be able to see any of them as I am bogged down with studying for my exams coming up in just under a week and the lack of spotting places at GLA easily accessible by public transport. Enjoy the aircraft while they are here!

Can someone please explain to me how this is going to work out? Are Icelandair offering special flights from GLA to their normal destinations? I can’t see way of offering travel from GLA to Iceland. What are Icelandair doing from GLA?

    YAY!! Fellow ATR fans!!!:p

Deffo ATR, Dash-8 Q400s tend to have nose gear malfunctions, SAS got rid of theirs over that!

So I think the ATR 72-600 (when available) would be perfect for your requirement. If strapped for cash an older 500 might do the trick

Planes have started arriving at airports including Heathrow after a ban on UK airspace due to the volcanic ash cloud was lifted.

All UK airports have been allowed to re-open after experts reassessed the risk to planes from volcanic ash.

Lets all hope that the doors stay open for a while now………. Until next time…….

Why could we not have come to this conclusion much sooner. I must thank all the airlines that volunteered aircraft to test this theory out, it is people who don’t listen to experts and try it out for themselves that move this world forward technologically and in knowledge!

    Here is another EGPH thought:

With most airports in England having been closed for the past few days, have any airlines taken this brilliant opportunity to do circuit training with trainee pilots? They could even do it at Heathrow or Gatwick, would be quite good just even for the novelty for the training captains!

Not seen the regular 757s or occasional 767 or A300 then 😉

I honestly can’t remember when the last time I saw an A300 at EDI was, last time I saw an A300 was last July in Belfast! 757s and 767s I rarely see, don’t get out of bed to see the CO off!

I told him to forget about all those whinging holidaymakers who are getting an extra week in the sun, (hotel and food paid for), and concentrate on us, the humble British Plane Spotter.
    Looks like he took heed.
    😀

I think the grounding is great for spotting, I saw my first BA 747 and 777 today at PIK! I was over the moon. As I live in Edinburgh, my idea of a heavy is an A321!
