I wonder if any of the the three main parties has realised that under PR the BNP would have about 30 seats at Westminster. Now that really is democracy!

As someone who could quite happily shoot Nick Griffin and do the time, I think that if PR gives the BNP some seats in Parliament it is a price we must pay, that is democracy and everyone who gets enough votes gets a say!

Being a Lib Dem supporter, In British politics anyway, I think the sooner this country moves into the 21st Century like the rest of Europe the better and we will have many move people voting Lib Dem and we can have a properly representative system of govt!

In more modern voting systems like Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic, non majoritarian systems have provided stable representative government

I just listened to the liveATC recording of the bomber’s Emirates plane about to depart New York, I am sure all here are aware it had taxied out and was called back but I am amazed at how last minute the message came:

“Emirrates 202, Kennedy Tower, position and……actually I have a message for you, to go back to the gate immediately!

    Haven’t we been here before?

Haven’t we realised that modern jet engines can battle through ash clouds in low densities and that all ash clouds coming from Iceland are low density by the time they reach the UK?

Was it not decided to continue flying regardless?

    Ouch!

Always a hairy situation when you discover a car bomb, especially in a crowded area.

Well done to the sharp eyed person who caught it out and the brave policemen and women who were involved in diffusing it.

I just think this is the most absurd thing I have read today. I don’t smoke, have never and will never smoke as I don’t particularly want to die young. I am totally for a ban on smoking in public places as not only does it stop passive smoking (to an extent) but also helps to further stigmatise those that do and hopefully that will help them to quit. I am also in favour of the latest proposals to have cigarettes removed from public displays, not sure if it will have much of an effect but worth a go.

However this idea of making manufacturers sell their cancer sticks in plain packaging is just stupid, it all just seems so childish and is certainly not going to stop people from smoking!
