i got this from the tempest website
In an e-mail from Tom Woodhouse in February 2004, he reports:
“MW763 could possibly be ready for Flying Legends 2004 but the last I heard was that Mike Nixon still hadn’t even started the engine restoration and he’d had the engine for two years previous to that anyway! The Flypast picture (May 2002 issue) was taken when Gerry and the lads had hung their spare (not overhauled) Centaurus on the airframe to get the cowlings complete and as many systems fitted as possible, otherwise the airframe is ready to go pending the arrival of the engine.”
other posters might know more about this.
when i looked at the Beaufighter today, there was alot of progress since last time i was at Duxford.
When i was in hanger 2 today there were some people talking to a TFC engineer. They were talking about the Hercules Engines and the restoration of the aircraft. I was being nosy, but the engineer was talking about parts of the Beau coming from New Zealand? does anyone else on the Forum know any more information about this?
cheers steve, im just hoping the weather holds out a bit 2moro!
i should be at legends tomorrow, does anyone know what time the flight line walk thingy closes?
if the B-25 is owned by the TFC could this be the next big project after the Beaufighter?
what about asking salvage squad they did a beautiful DH moth in 2002 why not do a warbird as well?
Good idea, im getting bored of them restoring steam rollers π there is a number of problems with this as the owner might not even want the plane touched, also im not sure if the Salvage squad could do a restoration of this scale. It might be too complex, then you have the CAA…..
how much would a new wing spar cost for a B-25?
i just got the latest addition of Flypast, there is a Me109 / Buchon c4k-162, this was the silver example at La Ferte?
Apparently this is owned by or previously owned by Private owner, Association Aeronatique Provencal Victor Tatin and is under restoration to flying condition?
this is from http://www.preservedaxisaircraft.com/
but at http://www.avions-de-legende.com/tablprof/Tabrind%E9t.htm it says it is still owned by Ass. AΓ©ron. Prov. Victor Tatin
does anyone have any news on this aircraft, could it be a surprise for legends? it looks pretty complete in flypast this month?
hopefully i will be there sat, i doubt i can get the sunday off work π‘ π‘ π‘ π‘
it will be the first time ive been to legends in 2 years, im not proud of that fact either!

that was a lucky find, i was looking for information on Yak-3’s, and i did a search for Patina ltd and it showed a list of all the registered Fighter collection aircraft.
looking forward to P-36 v.s. Hurricane IV at Legends π
i think Tempest Two have 2 Sturmovik’s under restoration, 1 is for hendon, the other is to airworthy spec π
