I’m very surprised that the U.S. hasn’t made a fuss about compromising secrets on the F-35C. In the past the French haven’t been exactly trustworthy concerning stealth. I’m not worried the French will attack us. I’m worried they will steal F-35 tech and build there own. Now how to you protect the tech if the aircraft is on a French ship?
Is there a good Reason that the U.S. hasn’t offered the F-15SE or the F-35?
Is this what we paid for? for the WIZZO to read girly mags in the back seat?

I think the key would be to find funding with either
a. a Military alliance with Chavez, NK, China.
b. promise them or offer them lucrative oil contracts or other deals in order for assistance.
The Chinese would be glad to sell the J-11
and the HQ-2P Missile You would need only a few J-11s to pose a serious problem over the islands.
Also If I were a argie general, Id try and buy 25-50 SRBMs from NK or china.
Short range ballistic missiles would terrify the British on the island.

OMG please visit code one and check out the small story.
Uh, no, in the 2015 timeframe all we would have to do is stick 3 type 45s down there fully loaded out and it could stop their entire airforce, and any 2 SSNs could stop their entire navy.
This is of course if we have warning, if not then I think the typhoons at MP would get a lot of work and go through a good chunk of their missile stockpile.
If you could swarm the place all you have to do is take out the main AF.

Trade Ya My JSFs for 100 LRStrike: RUMOR

As pressure rises for the US to abandon overseas bases crucial to the U.S. ability to reach deep into China, Russia and other strategic locations, the service is growing increasingly hungry to buy a basket of long range strike capabilities.
Air Force officials say it would probably be a mix of platforms — manned and unmanned — and some of them will almost certainly be stealthy and they will boast a range of at least 1,800 miles. And they will be expensive. Why do the Air Force and so many estimable defense analysts believe the U.S must build a replacement for the B-52s and B-2 bombers?

whats a heat exchanger? and I know the rules about posting the entire article but you could have posted more positive news.
With only 20+ 5th generation fighters, it seems that the Israel will fall behind the Saudis soon in combat capability. The Saudi air force with both typhoon and advanced F-15s is more than a match for any Middle east state
very nice blog
14:04 GMT, October 21, 2010 Five years ago the Pentagon had a plan for how it was going to keep the cost of each F-35 Joint Strike Fighter low. The plan was all about economies of scale. Basically, the more planes you produce each year, the less each plane costs. Sort of like building cars. So back then, the plan was to build 64 F-35s in the fifth low-rate production lot, the lot that will be funded in fiscal 2011. But a few years later the Bush Administration decided to trim the lot five buy to 52 planes. Then the Obama Administration cut it to 42. Now Senate appropriators are proposing to cut it again, to 32 — half the original plan.
Bf-2 hits mach 1.3
To bad the U.S. cant lend them f-18c for a few years.
“Right” as in every fighter/fighterbomber should be carrier capable. Besides political-industrial games that was the reason the French left Eurofighter.
Agree that this is a choice that shouldn’t have to be made. Looking at what I think is HM’s 2020 tactical fleet – a total of around 180 jets (same number as France resp Germany) – and looking at potential war tasks I say keeping at least *something* on the carriers is more important than bombing Pashtuns with medium tactical low level bombers. As questionable as it is, the EF2k is here to stay. So the joice is a minor land-based gap or a total carrier-based gap. In the current situation I can rather live with a land-based gap.
What you wrote (I think it was you) about “wars of joice” is exactly right. I’m a fan of Byzantine politics – before mulling going to war against someone I want to see that there is an overall economic benefit. **** length contests about Islands in the South Atlantic or the Persians don’t count! In absence of political guideance and leadership the Armed Forces develop all kind of phantasies to keep their business going. Dangerous and misguided! There are things worth fighting for and preparing against – proxy wars with China in Africa for example – and expeditionary and mobile assets are more important than short-legged land based toys that will be retired within the next ten years anyway. That’s way Harrier (as a relative, not an absolute choice!).
If British citizens and British territory isn’t worth fighting for then what is?
And to take it further. what fool in there right minds with any tactical skill would let Saddam Hussein take control of the entire middle east oil supply?
Remember the 2nd war was a linger problem from the 1st. I’m sorry to burst your bubble but our way of life depends on energy weither you like it or not.
Now back to topic.
lets not start on the Typhoon being obsolete jessmo. the point is that the RAF wants Typhoon to do a job which does not involve (at present) busting down the door (which is festooned in advanced sams).
Typhoon can easily handle the SU30 and that is the job it was designed to do. Because the RAF rates Typhoon doesn’t make the F35 any less valuable.
The big question is, if they switch to the C variant, who will oeprate it, and will it solely be a seaborne asset? There is talk that the RAF would be happy to trade in the harrier for the stealth and range of the F35C, but i think that is premature because until we know when and how the small force of JCA will operate, then I don’t see how the RAF could possibly have laid claim to them.
The typhoon has its strengths and weaknesses. The plane isn’t multirole enough to become the sole aircraft type in service. and a 1:1 kill ratio versus su types will make some missions a non option for a cash strapped air arm. the UK seems to be satisfied with parity when they should be focused on a small kick the door in force. I’m only saying this is light of the scenario presented above. since he suggested making the tify the sole type.
