Spot on. The major problem are the wing spars, and the small matter of the money required to do the job.
Regarding her future at Coventry, we’re still waiting to find out. We want to stay, but it depends if the owners of the airport are happy to let us once our friends depart for Cornwall.
Rockhopper; I hope you enjoyed your visit.
You are correct though, Sunday 30th September is Airbase’s last day. The collection is moving to Newquay.

If Shackleton VP293 is still with us next year, the Shackleton Preservation Trust would like to attend with it.

Cheers ‘lectra! Hopefully not too much longer and we’ll be getting the full Griffon symphony out of her.

I hear it’s going to get lonely soon, with Air Atlantic and Airbase leaving next year.
Just a tad. We’re still awaiting a decision on WR963’s parking spot.
If we’d had another couple of days to get it ready we would have ran ‘963 on four this last time. Believe me, it wasn’t through lack of trying and it annoyed us to the point we issued an apology to those present on Saturday for not being ready.
Cheers guys. It certainly raised our spirits on site when we put it on No 2. There’s still some minor stuff to do but we should see it running before long.
Regards,
Rich
Possibly still there. It pops up on a list of Greenland aircraft wrecks –
“Sep 1952 Handley Page Hastings 7807N3810W North Ice L-510 RAF. Tail visible. Fuselage used as depot.”
That looks awesome Barry!!
Just a quick mention – the photo’s I post here are shared openly on facebook with a ‘public’ setting. With this in mind if anybody wants to borrow them, use them, or send them on – please do. It only helps spread the word.
Tim – I think it was either the back end of 2008 or the beginning of 2009 when this all started. Its been a long time coming and we’ve learned a lot.
Dave – A materials list and dimensions for Shackleton chocks are given in the AP. I may assign a task to our carpenter and get it sorted.
There’s still a way to go, and the developing issue with No 4 means we can’t taxy before the end of September as we wanted. This doesn’t mean we stop here though – we’ll keep at it.

More to come later, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Thanks to all that have helped us along this far!
Kind regards,
Rich
