People that don’t know when to give it a rest and move on.
:mad::mad::mad:
I hate it when working on any project; when I take over from somebody on something that isn’t finished. Be it a car, at work, anything. You can guarantee the numbnuts involved will come back for another shot when you think you’re doing okay, and try and pull apart all your hard work.
They conveniently forget that the reasons they left the project(s) were that they may have been:
lazy
uncooperative
uncommunicative
backhanded
manipulative
guilty
overpaid
underworked
over hyped…
..mouthbreathing, knuckle dragging, ill mannered morons, – basically just guilty of being a waste of left over DNA and stealing the world’s precious oxygen!
Yes, I’m better at what I’m doing than you.
No, I don’t give a monkeys about how you would have done it, why you would have done it or where it would have been better.
You may have an opinion, but its wrong… because the rules say I don’t have to listen to opinions from anybody that has half the IQ of a glass of water.
You had your shot, blew it, now its my turn.
Idiots.

Shush you!
Our little crew are all working really hard on 963. She’ll be ready in her own time; then we’ll see whether she can match the Nimrod for noise making.
That’s great to hear that she started! Awesome stuff.
I don’t expect this will cut any ice, but if, in reply to previous comments, I said Dr P worked 3 years for no remuneration, – so he’s been there and done that…..
and when in 2008 it became apparent they would have great difficulty in maintaining crew availability when they all had day jobs, 4 of the aircrew either gave up full time employment or didn’t take up offers of further employment to ensure they would be available –
– and they are only paid for the days they work and seeing as 558 only flew 28-30 days last season including the P to F test flights, they gave up financially far more that they gained!!!
[and in some cases I know some monies received have been given back as a donation]….
I think personally that shows commitment & dedication and not a reason to put the boot in.
No more argument from me then on the wages front. Cheers for that.
Ric
So take a token amount, plus any expenses incurred maybe? All I know is if I were in that position, I wouldn’t be happy to draw a salary from it, if it wasn’t my main job.
Maybe its just me, I don’t know.
Sadly “Over Exposed” is a little too well known for her own good after featuring in a local guide book. Part of which mentioned that many take pieces as momentos.. something which a lot of people took to mean take what you want.
The engines have had their cylinder pots and props sawn off, one of the mainwheels has been unbolted and removed, and every time you go up there’s evidence of fresh digging. At one point two out of the four rivets holding the plaque had been smashed off (Well done to the Ranger who was going putting them back in as we came off the hill. Top man.)
I’ll be back up on that hill in a few weeks time for the Remembrance service and I’ll try to get a few shots.
Regards,
Ric
How’s that a valid excuse for anything? The point was that a lot of other display pilots do so for free, not that there’s tons of Vulcan crews lining up.
Thinking about it though, if you really were all for keeping the thing in the air, and flying it wasn’t your day job; would YOU demand a wage from it?
I know I wouldn’t, because I’d then feel myself to be a hypocrite for wanting other people to stick the money in to keep it happening.
Any news on how this went? I was hoping to get down there this weekend but transport issues are still keeping me away.

Ric
Not likely to be Shackleton shaped much longer either if the locals keep chopping away at it.
Baz,
That’s good to hear about the Shackleton, that she is getting some thought from the RAF as well as the love she’s had over the years from the CAS. I’d be interested to see how the Bio dome idea progresses.
Has anything been brought up about her fate should the MOD move out of Newquay altogether? I (and I’m sure many others) would hate to see her pop up on a tender list as happens with a lot of gate guards when the forces move on.
Nice to see that there’s a lot of co-operation from the respective bases over the memorials too.
Regards,
Rich
The Ballale wrecks have been salvaged haven’t they? That was the incident that involved Justin Taylan and a couple of mates getting arrested. His report when he found them bein “illegally removed” says there were six Zero’s a Val and a Betty taken.
😮
Now you come to mention it..
(They wouldn’t dare. Would they??)
Well there are a couple of near-airworthy Shackletons they could commandeer! They were only used 20 years past thier planned retirement date, might aswell bring them back to do another 20…
Oi!! Hands off our Shack!!
Though if I were a paranoid type I’d be sleeping in any recently retired Nimrods with a good intruder alarm.
Because they won’t bloody let me!! 😡
10 years of trying was enough… for now.
