The rain or hail flooding the engines is also unlikely. Engines are now tested for this and a truly enormous amount of water is run through them on a test rig, apparently its much more than they would ever likely see in flight even in the worst conditions.

    Correct.
And, rain and hail are by default below the clouds. The sort of clouds at 30k are made of tiny ice crystals which do not form together to make bigger ice crystals.

    EDIT:

Old Shape, I can’t allow that kind of detail regarding the passengers and their fate. Spare a thought for any relatives that may browse forums. Try and refrain from this kind of comment please.

As for the debris field being large, it came from 30k. The engines have enough fuel in their own pipes for about 3 minutes burn. Once disconnected from the pylon/wing, the engine(s) would carry on…rapidly forward for 3 or 4 mins. That would be miles away.

And the superb Malian singer Salif Keita. Is it pc to call someone black ? I called a mixed race ( oops, dual heritage ) baby black yesterday and my Jamaican friend said I should have said a baby ” of colour ” – so I suppose that makes me colourless ? I can’t keep up with this pc stuff.

PC can take a hike anyway…..however, the Blacks I know prefer to be called Black rather than Coloured. Coloured invites the notion that are not of African descent. The latter is something they are quite proud of.

Certain parts of the West are like that. Buying cheap, not caring for the local economy.

In France, the majority of cars are French. In Germany, the vast majority of cars are German.
UK / USA is a very mixed bag….from junk to class from all corners of da velt.

Can’t say I have ever found transvestites to be much entertainment outside of pantomimes.

The best I can offer is that he was infinitely superior the current, rather gross example.

Dame Edna is still the tops.

As for tranny’s in general, I’ve seen the show at Blackpool at Funnygirls club, and it was fantastic.

RIP to all in the tragedy.

Nobody has mentioned the possibility of terrorism. In these days of cowardice, it can’t be ruled out.

No mayday, no mobile calls from pax. It was an immediate catastrophic event.
