Unfortunately, the quivering lipped scottish idiot is still there. So are the remains of his party.
However, the pompous ass pillock on the blue team would be even worse.

I hope a leader emerges in the next election, it doesn’t matter if it’s Commy or Nazi or anywhere in-between. We need a leader to make Great Britain great again.

Totally agree. The chap’s dead, either way. Why not just say “David Carradine hangs himself” and leave it at that? Surely enough people will have seen Kill Bill (or Kung Fu) to know who he is, and that alone should generate sales?

“Freak home accident” is how sex-game deaths used to be reported.

Having been very close to a few news worthy items and read the subsequent press reports I now take most press reports very lightly.

    Paul

Even easier for me. There are only two periods of my long life that I’ve bought a newspaper.
    (1) 1973, I was following the World Cup Rally for a School Project, and the Mirror had a dedicated section in it.
    (2) 1992ish, I needed the Weekend FT for the Economics section, it was part of my degree.
And that, is it. I’ve never bought a newspaper for news, ever.
I do buy our local weekly, but I don’t call that news, we are a small community, we know everything that goes on anyway!

The TV is not much better at lying. BBC news has sold out or dumbed itself down for a world audience.
ITN aims for “Impact” as the post above suggests.
BBC World service is very gentle, so as not to upset the expats.
CNN etc is just junk, only improved by the adverts.

The report of his death on the news website I looked at had some extremely explicit details of how he was found.I was discussing with my daughter,a journalism student, how hurtful and embarassing this must be for the poor chap’s family. Her view was that the editor has the last say,and his/her decision on what constitutes ” news ” is final, whatever the circumstances.I think there’s no need for the public to know that he died as a result of what’s politely known as ” an auto-erotic incident “.Any views on this ?

Whilst I support your views, it is also the fault of the authorities. The reporters can only report what they have been told. (Also, what they have paid to be told by bent authorities). If they are told nothing they make it up…….then when they are wrong they are proved to be idiots and their reputation is nil.
The chase for a “Scoop” overides all sensitivity.

I hope you daughter becomes a journalist, and not “Scoop scum”.

    Hi all.

I was talking to an ex Monarch engineer who I met whilst on holiday in Malaga, he told me his thoughts on the causes of the crash ( ONLY SPECULATION )

He seems to think its possible that a highly charged lightning bolt may have hit the small strips of metal that divide the cockpit windows and in doing so made them weak enough for the window to blow out ( decompression ) but he also suggested that the lightning could have penetrated the cockpit and hit the panels in front of the pilots or even hit the pilots……as we know there was no distress message from the pilots and there was a report of decompression.

.of course its pure speculation, but afterwards I began to think ” yes it may be possible “

What does everyone think to this ?

As one who used to make these “Small strips” I can assure you that they are extremely beefed-up bits!
Windows are a PITA for A/c designers and builders. The extra structure that has to be built around them (To transfer the loads from one side of the skin to the other) adds weight, adds fasteners (Time on assembly and of course cost) and they add a piece of material which is generally non-structural.
As tuther poster says, Faraday and his cage prevents the lightning penetrating a “Body”.

I too laugh at most things, I believe PC to be the blight of all society. Any humour about and amongst adults usually has some grounding.

But, anything against kids is just not on.

I’ve briefly been to the cenotaph in London yesterday.

…and I looked around at the scum walking the streets, the graffiti near the centotaph, the general knife crime on the streets. I thought, “You died to give this lot freedom?”

Actually hail is quite a threat even above storms. The rapid rising/falling air within thunderstorms creates a perfect cycle of cooling, wetting, cooling, etc. to form large hail stones. The violent updrafts have even been known to throw hail from the top of the storm cloud. I remember reading a report of a LearJet that encountered heavy hail in clear air conditions that had been thrown from the top of a nearby storm cloud which resulted in the Lear crash landing in a field. I couldn’t find that report but here is a synopsis of a BMI A321 that encountered hail at 34,000′ and suffered quite a bit of damage.

    Yes, of course. Forgot.
I have witnessed an onion sized hail storm in Canada, and the onion is a good analogy of how it’s formed. Up to 30k and ice forms, drops down to cloud and gets wet again…..updraft to 30k and another layer of ice.

Also the same reason we get raining fish/frogs..allegedly.

Most thicko pax. don’t realise thay are a lot more than a dinner lady.

But even so, rudeness to servants is always a sign of a complete lack of breeding and manners.

I am not speculating, but seeking knowledge. I believe two German Air Force Tornados crashed as a result of flying too close to a commercial radio transmitter. Given the intensity of the lightening in this area does anyone know of the possible EMP effect of severe lightning discharges either +ve or -ve. Has any research ever been carried out into this possible phenomenon? I understand that EMP protection is a major concern with the military versions of the A330 currently under development.
Thanks in anticipation for your time and trouble,
    Be lucky
    David

The sort of EMP the military are worried about on A330 is from a whizz-bang nuke detonation.
