RIP Clem. I always thought his speaking style allowed him to cheat (In the best possible way LoL) on Just-a-minute. Nevertheless (There’s a word you won’t find in American!!) he was always an intellectual entertainer.

Ditto respect, and yes……the first shot is IMO an award level picture (Clone out the bag in the bottom right…it slightly distracts, I’ll do it for you if you haven’t got the S/w)

The Americans had to make English spelling as simple as possible due to the mass influx of immigrants in the 20th century.
They needed to learn as quick as possible, so the beauty and history/roots of words was dropped in favour of the quick-fix.

That, and a schooling system which is rubbish.

    I always quote two things.
“There’s no pockets in a Shroud”

“If you don’t like it, change it….if you can’t change it then change your attitude to it”.

    Oh, and “***k it”

I totally sympathise with what you say Old Shape. I cant believe what this country has come to. When I was 11 I was mugged.. I mean, who gets enjoyment out of mugging an 11yr old?

    Disgusting.
Enjoyment implies emotion, which further implies intelligence. There is none evident.

The perp. just saw you as a meal-ticket, not a person. They are incapable of rational or emotional thought.

Blimey OS …if you look at the date on the photo…we were there the same year πŸ˜€
I returned a few times … was always impressed by all the ‘fools gold’ in the water…but usually spent more time at the ‘races’ at reno πŸ˜€ I love the sound of big radials πŸ˜€

    cheers baz

I was there for only two weeks. Visiting relatives that are no longer relatives.
Didn’t go too far from Tahoe, we were building a lean-to at the new house on the lake.

Well, it wont change until we tell them to F off.

This country would benefit from a coup d’Γ©tat. 650 dead politicians can only improve matters. Mind you, a nation thick enough to watch Big Brother deserves the Government it gets.

I would once have fought for Britain, I was in the RN for a short while. Give me a gun now and I’d turn it on the Houses of Parliament during a full debate.

What’s the betting that “coup d’Γ©tat” gets picked up by some erk at GCHQ LoL.

Gun = Naval Gun or an AS90. “Guns” in the gutterpress are Pistols (Sidearms) or Rifles.
Dontcha just love the AS90. It hurls a projectile the weight of a Volkswagon for 20 miles and can hit within a few metres of the target. Would hit it if there was zero wind all the way. I’ve been next to the beast when in Rapid fire mode (Not that rapid he he) and it is a joyous cacophonous musical delight that warms the heart.

    Been there, 15 years ago.
I picked up a pumice stone, it was 14 inches x 9 x 4. I broke it into about 20 pieces. Still using about the 10th bit!
Is it still full of pumice?
