I assume the question about the bay is for me? If so, the answer is St Agnes, Cornwall. I took it when on final approach to runway 05 at Perranporth airfield in September 2005 in C172 G-BGIU.

Yep, cheers. I’m positive I’ve been on that beach, and Cornwall was a frequent place I went to.

Well, I think they have done a fantastic job on those restorations, not only for the aviation history but for the art deco beauty too.
Pity it had to close in the first place, but BAe couldn’t resist the sales price of that land.
Nowthen, I visited Hatfield in the 80’s quite a lot, on Airbus wing design. I cannot remember if Hatfield had the bespoke DH lamp posts along the inner roads? DH Chester certainly did. They were only concrete castings, in the shape of the DH bird icon. Beautiful. I imagine there are none left now.

I haven’t played with the UK version, but IF it’s the same as the street views of US cities on MSN’s Live Maps, I don’t see the reason for any angst.

It’s not live so it can’t be used to “case” your house……..
    .

It has been shown in Courts in the UK that G Earth was used to “Case” an area in which the scum could get the best getaway across gardens/wasteland etc. Not only for the best place to park the stolen car but also to avoid the copper-chopper and his infra-red. Now, the same scum can see if there is a low gate at the side, if the house is alarmed or not, where the phone line is. They can relate this image to the G. Earth and really plan a housebreak.
It would take a few “innocent” physical passes to get the same info and there is a risk of being seen.

Of course, this is a very small minority…….but it will be done.

Sorry that you took the remark about older types the wrong way. Like a good wine or violin we mellow with age. I agree about being forever young, I stopped maturing at 11 and I have no intention of changing for anyone.

Oi! I’m an older type! (The name “Old Shape” is actually a tribute to when BMW cars had the old shape [such as the Shark-nosed 6], not like the present munterful mingers)…nothing to do with my age.
    Age is compulsory, maturing isn’t.
Healthwise, at my age – if it hasn’t dried up…it leaks!

I’d answer your question but that would be suspiciously like ” chat “.

No no ney lass, it’s just that I have access to a lot of Flying Boat pictures and info. No Sunderlands though.

    I believe it’s called political will……..

Holy Mackerel, I’m up at this unearthly hour, watching breakfast telly, and the US Navy have just done so. Skipper rescued, bad guys gone.

Seeing the smiles of my eight Grandchildren as they enjoyed their piles of chocolate eggs

My 6 week old smiled for the first time today. Pucka smile, no fart/burp involved. Nowt like it!
