I’ve a mixed bag on the mp3, but I never mix duration any listening session. I never use random play or such like either. Can’t leap from Johny Cash to Tiesto!

It’s been called the Union Jack for over 300 years (documented since 1674), wherever it’s flying, & in official documents as much as popular usage. The OED has it well documented. The RN officially stated that the terms were interchangeable in 1902 (reflecting long-established usage), & Parliament declared that the Union Jack (calling it that) was the national flag in 1908 – again, recognising normal usage. Since we have no equivalent of the Academie Francaise, & the English language is (sometimes to my regret) whatever has been sanctified by long and widespread use, you can call it the Union Jack or the Union Flag interchangeably.

The idea that there is any difference in the meaning of the terms Union Flag and Union Jack is a modern invention, with no historical or official basis.

Well, as ex RN, I know exactly what would have hit my backside if I’d called it a Jack and it wasn’t on the Jack!

Old shape, off the top of my head, I believe the leading edge of the hammerhead’s head contains sensors that are either vibration or magnetically sensitive. I remember watching a Sunday afternoon documentary whilst dozing that stated something like this, but due to the fact that I was half asleep I might actually be talking nonsense.

Hmm. One would think, that if they needed to be spread apart then a Whisker type design would be better. I’m one that believes “Mother nature” doesn’t make any mistakes, so there is obviously a reason.

Lifting type device…having the eyes on the end doesn’t make sense for that one.

It must be for the spreading of the eyes. They must use them in a different way than the other sharks/fish.

Whilst in London on Saturday I had 3 hours to kill so I went to see the film Slumdog Millionaire, I was taken aback, I couldn’t believe the poverty, the cruelty, the violence and so many people that had never seen soap or water.

Then I thought thats enough of Liecester Square, I’d better go in and watch the film.

    Must be a pain ;).

Spending money is always a pain.
Our “Food” shop takes 25 minutes per week. The top-ups are done in my Lunch break, from the local place.

Whilst trying to avoid departing from the original theme of this thread I will just say this.
A prominent 19th Century German philosopher once pointed out and I quote: History will teach that nations and governments do not learn from history, nor do they act upon any lessons which may be drawn from it.
The British failed to subdue the Iraquis and Afghans in the 1920s, the Soviet union failed to subdue the Afghans far more recently yet we are still trying to control them. A futile exercise in my opinion.

    So, I repeat.
    (a) We need another Uslter to keep the troops sharp.
    (b) We still actually need to get Osama, try him in Court, to be found obviously guilty and kill him.

Back on topic, Hitler tried to remove all Jews and failed but 6m died (Plus about 7m Russians+others). Does anybody really believe that Israel will accept ANY nation trying to do harm to her after that? Israel has never started a problem, she has just retaliated with force.

    This cannot be the case.

Neither religion has been in existence for that length of time.

You’re quite wrong about Apartheid too. For all of it’s iniquity, it had nothing whatsoever to do with slavery.

Vertical…..It’s an expression, as well you know, goddamit.

Seeing as the whites saw the blacks as inferior and only good enough for slaves in the first place, I wouldn’t say it was cultural at all, the Dutch followed by the Brits did not even recognise thet Blacks had any culture whatsoever so they couldn’t base their hatred on such.
The two situations cannot be compared. I am unfortunately correct, that the Jew cannot live near the Arab, and more so the Arab cannot live near the Jew.
So, we either give the Jews, say, California, or we sit back in peace until a rocket comes over into Israel.
