I’ve got quite a few silent oldies in my collection from Tom Fix to Ramon Navarro…but I’d not heard of that one…I’ll make enquiries for you
It wasn’t originally called McTeague, but the book was.
I canny remember the original film name, it was originally 7+ hours long, eventually cut to just over 3.5 for the cinema of the day. It was digitally remastered in the early 80’s, by the same team that did “The General”. Judging by your taste in fillums, you will enjoy McTeague. A great story, with a fabulous ending.
I buy all my DVDs from a shop called JB Hi-fi that specializes in older movies that have all been digitally remastered
I’m not aware of a UK shop like that.
Has he got “McTeague”? A 1920s or 30s silent classic.

The more I think about it, the less I’m convinced.
Of crucial importance is the height of the tropopause. As far as I’m aware the F.3 never got any further than the Mediterranean area and even here the tropopause will be lower than in the tropics. So not only did he apparently get 7,000ft higher than in the other two cases, he would have had to do his high speed run at a lower altitude before starting his ballistic climb.
It’s got to be a line shoot!
Peter
As a wild guess…..were any EEL’s fitted with a Rocket motor for some sort of trials? Tropopause isn’t so important on Rocket Fuel. Wild guess, but possibly the only way he could get 1.5 miles higher than others.
One of my all time favourite Sci Fi movies is the 1951 classic The Day the Earth stood still…i wouldn’t even consider going to see the 2008 remake with that bloody Nancy boy Keanu Reeves playing the lead role of Klaatu…the Great Michael Rennie would turn over in his grave
I have just stalked every post you made in this thread.
Please send me your fillum collection, it is magnificent.
……Or, a link to a decent “Legal” downloading site…these oldies are now past copyright I presume, so there is no problem downing them?

Between the ages of about 16 to 20, I woke up at 4:11 am (At least 4 times a week) for no reason at all. Alarm was at 7:30.
I distinctly remember taking note of the time after it became an annoyance. I accept that after a while it was perhaps a self-realising expectation – I was now “Programmed” to wake at 4:11am.
Some Bible crew suggested I look up 4:11 in the book, but I didn’t. The page numbering wasn’t like that.
At the age of 24, 4 years or so after this “Thing” stopped, my Father died after a short illness….at 4:11am.
Wierd? Yes.
Coincidence? Yes.

When Movie stars were Movie stars
You soppy auld git!
(And I agree) 🙂
I have just watched Pink Panther with Steve Martin. I’m disturbed that they even considered a remake, as if Sellers could be matched!
Likewise, Bilko. That was S. Martin too. Again, an insult to the originals. Phil Silvers was just pure magic.

The spars in the wing-section were built before we had these plans. I have attached a picture of a spar we built according the plans. The ply walls still need to be attached. Once this is done the top and bottom of the spar will be angled to follow the lines of the airfoil-section. This spar was built for load testing.
Peter
Aah, no. What I am looking at is on the plan sketch. Once the Ply walls, (Web) of the spar is fitted…. I doubt if you could do as I was expecting.
The Spar Caps are not a parallel section, the attachment face is as per aerofoil (Which you say will be dressed to a perfect fit after Spar assembly), the inner face of the caps – I was expecting to be – parallel to the aerofoil. But the plans have drawn it just like you made the section. So I assume the fasteners are not through to a nut / anchor nut?
How are you attaching the Spar web to the vertical faces of the Caps?
I can’t tell from the plans, is each Spar a Box section…i.e a plywood web at front of the caps and another at the rear of the caps?
Anyone else having a problem with this? I registered for a PIN 2 weeks ago, and nothing has come in the post. Deadline is 5 days away, and then you become liable for a £100 fine for delayed submission. 😡
Is the HMRC system overloaded/broken down?
When you eventually get through to the Help-line, they are “Usually” pretty good at sorting stuff. Have you tried the line?
Or, as the other post says, they may have you purposely trapped. It’s a Government after all.

No PMN, those are not your words, I must have implied them onto you. As you have done to me.
Quote 23, you call me ironic, because I appear to be extreme at wanting scum killed off in an entertaining way. But in other posts I want extremists killed off. Yep, because they are scum.
There is a general direction. Common good. OK, the entertainment factor is just a little off-centre, but somebody will beat me to it. It will be on TV quite soon I’m sure.
In quote 28, you are giving backup to GA, which is allowing “Them” to be right. They are not right, ergo neither are their supporters. In this case, “Them” is those that believe the murdering scum child killers/rapists can be allowed to live, or a “Belief System” which can allow the elders to declare a woman should be stoned to death after being raped.
Again common decency is the aim, scum has no part in it. And my determination of scum is no different to any other person I know. Sure, I’ve met a few people that claim to be forgiving, sympathy needed for the murderer “He had a terrible upbringing etc.” It wasn’t their kith-n-kin getting bludgeoned though.
People, you, will argue with my preferred method of offing such rubbish off the planet, but surely not with the sentiment?
The 1st question is, should such murderers I have described be allowed to live?
The 2nd question is, if 1 is yes, who should pay for the secure prison term at £2,500 PER WEEK. (My figures are a few years old, it’s probably a lot more).
The 3rd question is, if you are going to put them away instead of Death, then removal all possible parole/early release needs to be done.
……But some pinko idiot will claim it’s an infringement of rights or somesuch trivia.
Not too much to ask for a better nation/world, is it?
