Hev yee been on the Newkie broon then lad

    How long have been away?
Newcastle Brown Ale is now so fizzy it’s a joke. The taste has changed too. I’ve no idea what they’ve done to it, but it’s a far cry from the beautiful classic we used to love. I do believe they have ruined it for the sake of making more money.

Actually it is perfectly clear from the plans that the plywood web is on both-sides. Even the thickness of the plywood at each section is given. They are box-spars throughout.

Yes, it is now. I couldn’t see the dimensioned Webs last night. I’m using the big screen tonight.

As for the Caps not being parallel to the Aerofoil line, I was assuming through fasteners and mentally calculating the RF value of the Cap thickness, which would probably be greater than 1, therefore heavier than it needs to be. But it needs the thickness to get a good land for the rear Ply web.

Is this a “fastener free” design then?

As John rightly says, the rocket pack photo was a fake, but a rocket wouldn’t have maked much difference as it was all about drag and limiting Mach number, more than anything else. As most of these stories suggest, the Lightning only got to the extreme heights thanks to a zoom climb and once it was there it was pretty delicately balanced until it came down again – so it’s doubtful that anyone would have been able to get that much additional energy out of a climb to notch-up as much as another five thousand feet or so, plus I would think they’d be less-than inclined to even try and get the aircraft to that height, knowing full well that it would almost certainly stall.

……….but with a long drop to recover it, or, a long time to wait before a bang-out!

The letter to the tax man (Some time in 2007 it did the internet) was funnier.

But this guy should have complained to the dinner ladies on-board. He also should have got pictures/testimony from other pax.

I would like an Indian person to actually tell us what it is, because I don’t think it was all messed up as the customer indicated. He claims custard, it’s probably a sweet dip.
I ate a total mixture of stuff in India, sweet things for starts and sours for afters. And, in India, I actually did eat Custard for a pudding, it was traditional Birds brand powder too. The restaurant certainly knew it was Custard, and certainly knew it was for pudding.
There are dozens (Not an exaggeration) of “Dips” offered with a real Indian meal, some sweet and some sour. Some will blow your nose hair out. In UK we get the standard 4 dips, one of which (Lime Pickle) is becoming harder to find, to my annoyance.
So, had this person been in a 4 star Hotel all his trip, and avoided traditional cuisine……and was then shocked to find it offered on flight?

I didn’t imply anything, I quoted your own words. There’s a vast and distinct difference between the two, but in this thread you’ve already made it clear you don’t seem to understand the concept of quotation. Incidentally, when I asked you to quote something I didn’t actually say, I meant just that. I didn’t ask you to give your interpretation of my words. Or have I just hit another flaw in an already flawed argument? You can’t actually quote something I didn’t say. Is this making sense yet?

No, my quotes were amalgamated and read as if they were about the same thing. Clearly they are not. If I am extremist, it is based on decency. The child killers must be eradicated. Not extreme, just common sense. My words were misinterpreted, and it seems I did the same to you. ergo, if you were agin me then you must be supporting the opposite. I couldn’t believe you supported the opposite and took issue.

If you honestly believe killing everyone who commits certain offences and having live TV feeds from the executions will bring about a better world then you’re no different from any other extremist, religious or otherwise.

I admitted the live feed may have been a bit OTT. But it will be done.

I gave backup to GA’s post because frankly, he’s infinitely more rational and sensible than you and he picked up on a very obvious contradiction. One of several very obvious contradictions you’ve made because your posting appears to be driven by emotion rather than you expressing rational, defined thoughts; something you’ll see in a lot of extremists, I’m sure.

I’ve had far too many years of rationality about such matters. Emotion is a good thing IMO, and just because this particular thread is a bit touchy-feely because it deals with killing scum, decent emotions should not be witheld.

We go to war, aiming at enemies. Primary target is to remove their assets, and if men are in them, tough. Then we aim at the armed men, the enemy. IMO child killers, terrorists are enemies of all decent good living people and their removal is of no consequence.

Also, I have to say I find the fact you’d gain some sick pleasure in watching other people die, regardless of the circumstances, quite disturbing. I’m very happy people who share your thoughts are in the minority.

If you regard such scum as people, then I understand your concern. I certainly do not, and killing them is no more a sin than hunting Rabbits or Rats. The minority surely believes in Jail. Majority wants the death penalty back, I just elaborated the proceedings a little.

Cold Bolognaise (Minced steak with the jellified sauce including mushers/toms/peppers/other stuff) on a sandwich, white bread of course.

It was fantastic. It’s only a Pizza idea after all, but it worked. It will definately work as a toastie. In fact, I’m going to get the Breville out right now. I’m salivating.

I’ve got quite a few silent oldies in my collection from Tom Fix to Ramon Navarro…but I’d not heard of that one…I’ll make enquiries for you

It wasn’t originally called McTeague, but the book was.
I canny remember the original film name, it was originally 7+ hours long, eventually cut to just over 3.5 for the cinema of the day. It was digitally remastered in the early 80’s, by the same team that did “The General”. Judging by your taste in fillums, you will enjoy McTeague. A great story, with a fabulous ending.
