I personally think that any country that can develop its own aircraft can also develop its own stealth aircraft or at least aircraft with reduced detectability. The basic principles of stealth are given, formulas and equations are known, prediction software is existing, what is there to be so undoable?

The question remains whether Tehran has enough expertise and money to design their own fighter. If yes, then it likely will have at least some stealth characteristics.

    So very true.
They have buried this project in money. They have set a strategic goal, and as you say…..even if they get half way there it will produce a viable and real threat.
The scientists on the project are (Some of them) UK and US schooled/Uni’d.
Yes, the culture of the nation may be held back, but its arms race isn’t.

I don’t think its the design that gained 12 tonnes, but the actual airplane!

The original weight calcs were flawed.
Since those heady days, the loads have almost doubled (Dynamic and static), the battle damage tolerances have been increased, stuff that was originally going to be CFRP had had to go to metal, even the engine siezure loads were (Ahem) “Forgotten” by Spain, which put more meat in the wing loads. The loads created by that stonking great prop coming to a stop within a couple of Revs or less are massive.
Even the floor has been beefed up.

On the plus side, it’s a good looking aeroplane. But the customer wants to fly it, not date it.

I reckon there’s only a couple of modern day “ACTORS” i’d pay to go and see and that’s Pacino and Deniro

Well, I don’t actually pay for anything but kids films these days. If we get a night off from the kids, we don’t go to the cinema.
TV or Library DVD’s for me. Or garbage downloads.

However, some modern actors are OK. Matt Damon for 1 eg. From Good Will Hunting to the Bourne trio. All very good fillums.

But I do prefer the old greats. Coz I am one LoL.
Also like the silents, especially Buster Keaton.

My views are still in support of the death penalty(1), my entertainment factor is guilding it a bit though.

It’s the same old story nothing stays the same…even Coca Cola doesn’t taste like it did when we were kids…bloody cans and plastic bottles….give me glass any day!!!

IIRC the Coca Cola recipe had to be changed because it was being mixed with Anadin tablets to make a recreational drug.

Hev yee been on the Newkie broon then lad

    How long have been away?
Newcastle Brown Ale is now so fizzy it’s a joke. The taste has changed too. I’ve no idea what they’ve done to it, but it’s a far cry from the beautiful classic we used to love. I do believe they have ruined it for the sake of making more money.
