The bombs are being flung out of the bomb-bay by a dropping device…possibly rotating?

They look like hard points don’t they? A bit thin though. Edit, found this by Gogling
    http://www.jaapteeuwen.com/ww2aircraft/html%20pages/handley%20page%20hp57%20halifax.htm

Fuel capacity increased to 1,986 Imp gal (9,028 1) and all but first few had longer wing with span increased to 104 ft 2 in (31.75 m). Max bomb load, 10,000 Ib'(4,540 kg) in fuselage and 3,000 Ib (1,362 kg) in wings. Well quite! I do have to agree with you there….
    I withdraw my comment :D.

You live in Farnham……I passed thru Farnham last December, didn’t see many overdressed lights on houses. Good area = sensible lights, or is that just a pattern I notice in every town?

    Merry Xmas.

(Pending comments on the use of the X!!!)

    🙂

Flew on a Iberia Caravelle from Barcelona to LHR in the 60’s, don’t remember the chute, do remember going on board via rear belly ramp.

The chute only came out when severe wet or frosty weather was on.

Why do you say that?………….In my mind they were not my enemy…they were friends.

This is the whole point. We were not friends with the Iraq/Afghans before this mess. The genuine culture divide has always been a barrier, and will always be. There is a wicked hatred from each side to the other. Not to the civilians of course, the ordinary ppl as always will be taken as friends.

A political war, such as Falklands, or even WW2 before the Americans and Japs were involved does not usually step over a massive cultural divide. We know the enemy, and we know that he is an ordinary soldier doing his job because a politician has decided so.
The present mess does cross a cultural divide. Each side (Well, definately the other side) has absolutely no respect for the life of the other.
Israel has been trying to sort it out for years and got nowhere.

Beautiful!!! Caravelle is up there with the VC10/Trident/Coranado/Concorde in terms of a beautiful Jet. All todays jets are from the same jelly-mould.

I’d forgotten just how many “Non test” aircraft had chutes in those days, I seem to remember it was relatively common but I can’t remember the other types, do you?

I was lurking around Ringway 1968 to 74, but I was on/in the buildings, not the South Side. edit…I’ve just realised that this picture is from the old Short Runway area, near the Romper. Is that where the AVP is then? I thought it was over the South side near the 06 end of the runway?

    Pearl Harbour?
Surely, “From Here to Eternity” with Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra plus lots of others is the tops.

Airbus don’t seem to think they’ve had orders for 202 A380s.

Grey…Couldn’t find it on that link, but what I did find was very out of date,

….celebrating Christmas with a little more enthusiasm than most?

Enthusiasm has nothing to do with it. They are just trying to out-do each other in a total non Christmas way. Don’t often see a flashing Jesus or a neon Mary!
Not that I can talk, the Bible is a book of tales, similar to bar talk.
