Sorry to hijack the thread, but here’s a little equation, as I see it:
“Global warming” + “climate change” + “Carbon footprint” = Govt. excuse for more taxes :mad:
    😀
    Don

Sire, I don’t understand the smiley you followed this with.
    You are 100% correct.
Global warming is happening but it is not man’s fault. The gullible and misinformed think it is, and the bentlot have seized the opportunity to take away our hard-earned.
One big Volcano such as St Helens put’s more bad gas in the air than all the cars ever built.
And when Jellystone Nat. Park goes up, we’re all dead anyway……but we can go to the grave clutching a crap light-bulb in our hands, knowing we did a bit (To add to the growing business plan of opticians!)

I have now read all the posts ‘properly’ and cannot find any reference from you about the U.S supporting dodgy regimes or agreeing with anybody else saying that, most Americans that I know personally have a great sense of humour and my comment was not a personal attack on you,it was more a comment on worldwide politics.
Politics make for strange bedfellows and sometimes previous help for an ‘undesireable regime’ can come back to haunt many years later.
Please do not take this forum too seriously…it is only a bit of fun really and one has to expect a little sarcasm.
I am very sorry if i really upset you but I thought your comment about Saudi was a little naive.

    regards baz

What about support to undesirable regimes whilst we are politically boycotting them? I’ve worked for two of the largest Defence Co.s in the world and they were “Arranging the future” with Libya within months of Lockerbie. Now the Col. is our new best friend, better still #1 son when he takes over. And the Col. has got 25 years of his oil revenue (Which we didn’t buy but Russia did) and an old Defence system. He wants to re-equip the lot…..from the ground up. BIG money. But the deals were done years ago, it’s just a matter of picking the kit now.

Its only a daft wee programme on a Saturday night.Matters not one jot.
Neither does the one on ITV.

ITYM the whole of ITV. It’s dumbed down for chavs.

(Apart from the repeats of Jeeves and Wooster on ITV4……the series with Fry as Jeeves and Laurie as Berty)

Fact – I know more BNP members than any of you. How do you know there is “not a good man amongst them”?

Because the desire to be involved in politics proves that one is intellectually lacking to make an important decision involving real people and real issues.

Regardless of their longevity, which is hardly unusual, none of those strike me as supporting your contention that you would buy a hybrid if you wanted to look ‘stupid’

    Moggy

No, you’ve reversed the context there. Anyway, I’ll grant that the latest hybrids look no different to the normally sexed cars next to them. But I don’t like the present design styles of most new cars. They all look like Ban Dai has designed them. I’m a fan of BMW’s but the new ones are butt ugly MF cars. (If I was given a new 6 series, I’d accept it though:) )

Yes, it’s quite tightly regulated, though much of what seems to us to be “regulation” stems from the high degree of social consensus among the population, higher than exists IMO in the UK. What seems to us like conformism or subservience to the dictats of the State is just cohesion, shared feelings about how things should be run. And they are, in a profound way, more democratic: there’s a lot of cantonal independence, real local government in which people’s opinions actually count for something.
Re conscription, I see this as a mark of democracy: when everyone (males anyway) is involved in national defence it enhances that national cohesion, sense of self worth, involvement etc. They all (400,000 plus?) keep their military assault rifles (the excellent stgw.90) + ammo at home, too… Rifle shooting is the national sport, great shooting ranges all over: a nation that not only trusts but encourages its citizens to keep weaponry can’t be all bad.

Sounds perfect, apart from the weapons at home thing. The average UK intellect is now too far shot to allow this. When 100% brain-dead TV such as Big B or Soaps is constantly top of the ratings, you know the schooling has failed.

    Err…. Eh?!

    Paul

    Is it judged?
I just like to look at the pretty gals.

All dancing (Yes all) is based on sex or sexual conquest, so technical merit doesn’t matter to me.
