I said on some other thread that whilst we enjoy the superb Photo’s and images on this forum, they WILL be downloaded and abused. Very especially as some people load images of the highest quality and are often several MB in size.
Personally, I only upload files of 60kb 500 pixels wide. If they want to download that, they won’t get a decent print > 3.5 inches wide.
At the sufference of the photo quality, which undermines the point of “Showing” a photo, it is better than somebody else making any money from it.
Hi,
That’s the prop from the prototype made during WW1 I think it was called called S.E.5, B.E.2 or R.E.8 or something simular!
(What I want to know is how the hell do you tell the time when it’s spinning around!)
cheers,
-John
Not doubting you, but how on Earth can you tell that from (a) a bad photo (b) the only visible detail is a nut count. (And the nuts won’t be original).
“Permission to volunteer sir!”
Thems were the days!:p;)
cheers,
-John
“Have the men fall in Sargeant!”
“Would you all mind Falling in chaps,……….thanks ever so much, so kind of you”

Nice shootin’!
The Yak 52…..is that how the gear stays when retracted? The nose wheel tyre is touching the belly skin.
The Speedtwin is a nice looking machine, those engines must be tiny and very economical, otherwise a twin engined craft with only two seats doesn’t make economic sense. Or have I missed something?
Love the close up Squeasy jet nose!
In this day and age I’m surprised you can still get so close.
The A340 is a scrapper, it’s out of focus and the sunlit side is over exposed. IMO of course.
1st B&W is good, you’ve taken a scene of “Nothing” and made it into a photo by cropping the composition.
The Wheat. I like this shot, but I also tend to go for the abstracts.
All the other B&W are too dark and do not have the contrast or “Punch” needed.
The 3rd one, a rock, is IMO the best (But again I like abstract) and would probably benefit from a good session is Photoshop.
The Brush-head is my 2nd choice for Photoshop, I would also crop out the near side….it’s out of focus.
The cloud shot is OK actually, lots of detail in the white, clouds are a PITA to perfect. Artists nor photographers can never capture the subtle beauty of clouds.

And, of course, “they” already know what will replace the new fangled Super Hi-Vision once everyone has followed the herd, believed the marketing spiel and bought their SHV television sets….
And why should “they” worry about the environmental damage done by encouraging people to replace perfectly serviceable HD TVs with SHV sets simply to get better picture quality. And why do people need TV sets the size of a hangar wall anyway – next health problem will be a whole generation of fashion-followers with knackered eye-muscles. Stick to a 25inch screen and you probably won’t tell the difference between HD and SHV picture quality anyway!
As with any other “fashion”, if the masses didn’t slavishly follow “trends” to keep up with the Joneses then the TV manufacturers/retaillers would soon go out of business, that’s why they keep switching formats, it’s nothing to do with satisfying consumer demand, it’s all about driving consumer demand for their products.
(Cynical? Me?, surely not…..:diablo:)
Generally support that, but they don’t switch formats to ensure you are out of date..it’s the nature of the beast in technology, just like ‘puters. It will all settle down and we’ll have a general format for 80% of the world and some specials for the people wanting to be different or need another form of technology. A bit like MS satisfying >80% of the worlds needs with the severe engineers needing specialist stuff, and some anti gates buying Apple.
Businesses that switch stuff just to rip you off are for example a Football club. Make 30 shirts in 30 colours, the prime reason being that you now HAVE to remember the sponsor to recognise a club, and you “have” to get the latest shirt if you follow the team.
Me, I have a 26inch CRT from 4 years ago and have not bought a football shirt since 1971 (Round collars LoL!).

I’ve just put a 2nd skin (Inside) on a single brick built extension (Very old). Put airbricks in etc. It’s now going to be the master bathroom, leaving only a loo n basin upstairs.
The 2nd skin is plasterboard with insulation behind it, and an inch gap behnd that.
I got a builder in to plaster (Skim) it. It’s so good we are just going to wallop it with Emulsion and tile where necessary.
It was worth paying somebody to do it right, especially the ceiling – last time I did a ceiling with skim plaster, it looked like the beach when the tide had gone out. Ended up putting a mask on and power sanding it!!!!

Well, what happened?
Well, what happened?
The pictures were taken by official government photographers.
“Photographers working for the U.S. government’s Farm Security Administration (FSA) and later the Office of War Information (OWI) between 1939 and 1944 made approximately 1,600 color photographs that depict life in the United States, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The pictures focus on rural areas and farm labor, as well as aspects of World War II mobilization, including factories, railroads, aviation training, and women working. “
And yes, it was “Rosy the riveter”.
Just look at the depth of colour and “Life” in those shots. Digital just doesn’t do it. (Even though I’m a total convert to digital and will never go back!)
I imagine they were on a large format camera of course.
Anyway, post more, they are superb.
