If the main wing Spar(s) are suspect then the removal/remake/rebuild will take two years. To get the spars out is a total dismantle of the wing, it’s like taking the spine out of a man. (Hmm, I know a few of those in the HP). Every fastener is drilled out (Apart from the bolts obviously!) and all replaced.
If there are any skins to be replaced then they will have to be hand made (If there are any sheet metal workers with the skills to roll them properly that is) If there are any parts that were forgings they will have to be machined from billet, which requires a re-design and then a re certification. The rebuild will be a nightmare, as all the steps and gaps were made up with shims (Normal practice in metal aeroplanes), so the process is dry assemble, see what isn’t touching and measure it, make a shim to fit, or nearly fit as shims come in supplied SWG thicknesses.
It gets very messy, but we can hope for the best. As said above, only money will stop it.

By the way, PA474. I think the only original parts on it are the casings for the 4 lumps and some of the instruments, and possibly some of the skins. Over the years and several deep strip repairs, most parts have been remade.
We made most of the wing structure (Including spars) and floor beams at Chadderton circa 1976ish.

Thanks for that, I was just about to go to bed in order to get up on the 5:30am boat! I was going to pay on the gate, so I’ve no refund problem.

Nice video, great music. Until the singing ruins it.

As above, but my £0.02 would be to get plenty of memory cards, or plenty of Gb memory cards. Shoot in RAW mode, it gobbles the memory but the pictures have more detail AND, as a nooby, there is more chance of a badly exposed picture being rescued from a RAW file. It can’t (Obviously) unfreeze a prop. but it can certainly add or remove light. Once checked in RAW, you can save them as a Tiff, and then open them in your usual editing software and save them as a Jpeg for everyday use……..keeping the original RAW’s on a disc or hard-drive elsewhere.
The trouble (Wrong word but you’ll get my meaning) with this forum is that some of the pictures posted here are of a quality which outstrips the glossy magazines. The equipment used by these people costs as much as the rescue plan for Fanny Mae.
The pictures on here gives us something to aspire to, and of course the pleasure of looking at, but we can’t beat ’em.
    Good luck at Duxy.

    16 / 20.

But, it’s from the BBC, which used to be always text book English but is now aiming its TV at the bottom of the bell curve chavs and pikeys in order to keep viewing figures.
If you consider Eastenders as your MAIN budget expense, you’ve lost the quality plot.

Oh so you’d send in the Collection of Inefective Amateurs would you? That’s not just my opinion of them but that of many members of the US armed forces.

As I said, don’t waste soldiers. I’s sooner trust the CIA than MI6/5/? whoever has the kill thrill.

Never mind oil, doesn’t most of SA including Zim have a good source of Gold and Diamonds?

Yeah, the Viggen is a Moose.
But, I’m so surprised nobody has put the T10 Harrier up as candidate number 1.
It looks wrong, it looks ugly, it spoils the lines of the machine. It’s the Fiat Multipla of the sky.

    Great shots Darren, as usual.

Is this the 1st visit of Liberty Belle to UK?
What was the other one called, that has been around since the 70’s?

    Amazing.
She only sailed for 5 months too.

The cold fresh water has obviously kept the wood good.

cheers, does anyone know how many aircraft i could expect to see fly on fri and what time…how long is this “hole” (the mrs starts to get bored when the jets go quiet)!!!!

The website suggests 2.5 hours and further suggests that you could take the tour bus round the statics during this quiet time.

I might go Saturday, but at £32.50 per person they are taking the p155 a lot. £45 on the gate, even worse.
