Yes indeed Mr Sony still makes the best TV cameras, and some of his domestic gear ain’t bad either. I’ll be off for eight weeks on location in the new year with my rarther nice, if rarther heavy Sony HD-650 complete with (also rarther heavy) optical fibre breakout box attached on the rear end, affectionately known as ‘the backbreaker’…

Don’t gimme that backbreaking malarky 😀

As well you know you have a counterbalance….not a lot of people understand that carrying twice the weight properly balanced is more comfortable than the original lump on its own.

Reminds me of my first SLR back in 1974. A Zenith, made from depleted Uranium by the weight of it ha ha. A shutter so loud it scared off the birds in the next field!

    Spoken like a true capitalist…

    Quite the reverse actually.
My money is hard earned. I would be the first to close down the Forex and the City. Whilst they can make a company some money, they do more damage and can kill a perfectly good company overnight, with a rumour. I know, I was an investment c’tee member of a £2bn pension scheme.

    Is the £10 automatic now?
I though it had to be at less than 2 deg C for 5 consecutive working days?

(It had to be working days btw, as the people registering the temperature didn’t do weekends)

    Inglorious Basterds

I finally caved and bought this on DVD. I was expecting a Tarantino-esque war film that made warfare trivial, but what I actually got was a Where Eagles Dare/Dirty Dozen movie crossed with a revenge plot where a group of hardened American and British soldiers (the Basterds of the title) descend into France on a dangerous, and seemingly one-way mission, only to become mixed up in the wrath of an orphaned French Jewish girl.

    Actually quite good.

Having just watched it, I agree that it is a Dirty dozen / Eagles Dare type of film, with the usual gore of Tarantino. If you like Tarantino then you’ll like IB. Personally, I think his films are trash. I like my violence as much as the next DVD watcher, but I like a storyline that I can either like or appreciate, which I don’t get from Quentin T.

Try that on mine, and you’d find out how painful that .22 really is…

I once shot somebody I didn’t like with a .22, it went through his cheek into his mouth.
Anyway, back on topic. Pellets and poison. Yes, it’s a good idea except that my kids would pick it up.
Water, as I said they gits come round when I’m out.
Ammonia, I’ve got tons of that stuff for certain purposes (I’m surprised one can still buy it over the counter). I’ll put some in a jam-jar with a pierced lid and place it at their hedgerow entry point. The 50+ foot of fencing would also need the wire.
The **** in the box, I will just have to keep a good aim.

One thing you are all forgetting, to kill these feline pests would only serve to distress the neighbours. This leads to a falling out. This leads to a bad report on the HIPS when you come to sell up.
So, whilst I would like to get rid of them forever, the end result would potentially hurt my pocket…..and that’s where my morals are.

Too new. But that’s another tale.

I’ve been told they have to DRAIN fuel off it after every flight!;)

    Rgds Cking

Full body Paint on that size jet is about 300-400lbs. 2 pax. worth.

767 winglets are proving to be massive saving on Fuel (According to Air NZ)
I have not seen data on the 757.

But still more than capable of good results if you know what you’re doing. Granted, my old 75-300 is nowhere near the league of my 70-200L but it’s still perfectly capable of producing good images if used well. Chromatic aberration can be a bit annoying though. Anyone blaming soft images exclusively on kit/low end lenses just doesn’t know how to use a camera!

    Paul

The “Old” 75-300 is a classic, only surpassed by the later 70-300 IS USM (Me got) and of course any L series. But, have you used the kit lenses as described above? Any kind of aboration you like, good middle bad outer (As expected but it is markedly so). For snaps and record shots, the lens is perfect, it weighs next to nothing and is a handy walk-about.
But, get the picture into Lightroom or similar and it takes hours of selective corrections on the shifts. I wanted the Prime 50mm instead (It’s cheaper than the 18-55) but Jessies wouldn’t do it. Nobody was price matching Jess at the time, otherwise I wouldn’t have used them.
