I suspect most posts on this thread have come from the heart rather than the head, not that I’m saying that’s a bad thing. It is after all a very emotive (and divisive) subject. I think both sides have made some very good points.

Presumably that also means lions can’t kill zebras and common house spiders can’t kill flies?

    …Is that not a natural death…?

My better half would definitely be Grumpy if she saw the double take I just had to do at Mr. Saunders’ photo!

    Update-30/01/2011

Well, at least it didn’t rain but it was bitterly cold on an airfield ‘somewhere in the People’s Republic of Yorkshire’ over the weekend. Still, we braved the cold as Lindy still has much work to be done.
Rich and I were in on Saturday, we hoped to get the bay ready for its Artouste back this weekend so thought an extra day of drinking coffee in the NAAFI with the odd trip out to look at the jet might help. We took the Artouste bay doors off with a touch of trepidation, as it had rained during the week and we were keen to see if our changing of the seals in the upper access panels had been a) successful or b) a pointless waste of time, effort and blood.
I’m pleased to report the bay was bone dry, so it was a very worthwhile exercise. Only all the rest of the stubborn panels to re-seal now… 🙁
We got a few odd jobs sorted, and finished the day by getting the side walls of the exhaust section of the bay primed up. This is where we’ve been having the issues we’ve been battling, but there really is light at the end ot the tunnel now. And it’s not John with a torch mumbling about electrical problems for once…!
Sunday was more succesful. The replacement top panel for the rear bay appeared, and the cross piece to which it bolts was fabricated, drilled and riveted into place. The entire bay is now painted and looks pretty damn good!
So we’re now just waition for the anchor nuts to appear so we can bolt the panel in place here:

(apologies for the picture quality, I may have been shivering as I took it! 😮 )
We can then re-fit the exhaust and it’s new shiny bracket in here:

Then stick the Artouste back in here (once the necessary O-rings have turned up that is), and job’s done:

    Seemples! (he says…)

I’ll not be present next week as Ali and I are off to be unfaithful to Lindy by visiting another V-bomber , but hopefully Lindy will forgive us as we’ll hopefully be returning with goodies for Lindy and the Nimrod. I’m hoping Rich will send me a summary of next Sunday’s occurrences to post here.
