a “black crystalline finish” is specified ……this is the wrinkle paint finish so loved by early MG owners…….

Not loved by this particular MG owner! 😉

    Looking good.

Kinda guessed that was the case, hadn’t checked for a while though. Hey ho. Still looking like a good lineup taking shape…

The F111 picture has disappeared off the Waddington Airshow homepage now… Guess that’s that then.

Been talking about this one with quite a few colleagues over the last few days, so here’s a balanced general concensus of opinions. Either the Clio has moved across into the path of the truck too close to his front bumper, or the truck has pulled left too close to the Clio’s back end. Given where the truck is on the road, ie which lane it’s in, the former looks more likely. Given the two vehicles were travelling at very similar speeds there’d be very little initial impact, and given the soft cab suspension a DAF has and the general state of the roads currently, probably a jolt that would feel little different from some of the potholes/bomb craters when the car broadsided across the front. The DAF has a comparatively high, shallow screen for a truck; it’s easy to lose a car in front of you in any truck, specially when they cut across your bows because they want to be off a slip road and would rather play chicken with your front bumper than wait patiently behind you for a couple of seconds longer to take the slip, but with a shallow screen more so obviously.
But that said, there has been a serious lapse of attention by the trucker- you should ALWAYS be scanning the road around you, a hazard can come from any direction at any time.
I think it’s just one of those freak accidents that can happen- fortunately with no loss of life. There’s certainly no way it’s a set-up though.
I shall now duck before the Hate-All-Truckers brigade turn up with their largest ‘one size covers all’ tarring brushes, demanding I be put in stocks.

I handed in my RAF ID card today, during a somewhat long and, at times, stangely satisfying clearance procedure, and so I’m now officially a “relic.” Does this mean that I can live in the Cold War Museum at Cosford?

They’ll want to dangle you from the ceiling at a funny angle! 😀

All fixed, in fact I now have 7 potential spares- Rockets for the Airfix 1/48 Spitfire 24 are perfect with a little bit of remodelling! 🙂
So all 3 Vulcans look proper again, till the next time one gets knocked anyway… 🙁

    Cheers Peter btw

I think the JCB sounds like the way ahead… Failing that, napalm :diablo:
