They did indeed have 301’s. Didn’t know the 301-engined ones were howl-less, sure ‘655 squeaked out a little howl-let when I went down to see her do her thing a couple of years back…:D

Probably in one of the private yards surrounding AMARC or whatever it’s called now.Any C/KC97’s still flying, does anyone know?

Me too! Specially if a Kubel’s thrown in as well…:D

What’s the chances of a real live VC-10 making its home at Brunty, rather than being given the chop…? I can hope!:)

Can’t have been the former- how could you mistake the pleasant sound of a Vulcan howling for the less than pleasant sound of Bon Jovi? :diablo:

I meant the C97 would probably be in one of the private yards rather than still on D-M, should have been clearer, apologies :o. I know the 52’s get the chop on site; something horrible about watching that giant blade do it’s work.

The FAA started getting snotty and pulling fleets of ‘older’ fire bombers after a couple of nasty accidents didn’t they? Ie Hawkins & Powers’ fleet for example.

Of course, it’s far easier to just say ‘no’ rather than actually sitting down and working with the operators to work out ways to ensure safe operation isn’t it? Apologies for drifting BTW 🙁

With luck and a following wind I’ll be down for a visit first weekend in June, can’t wait to see what’s changed since my last bimble around about 10 years ago 🙂

Just had a random though pop into my little skull- the Victor at Brunty looking on slightly smugly while the VC-10’s are getting the chop… 😮
