We did a similar thing a few years back, drove south ’til it got wet and turned right. I don’t do loitering within tent so we used B&B’s but same principle.
Portsmouth – Submarine Museum, HMS Warrior, Mary Rose, HMS Victory etc.
Southampton Hall of Aviation, or Solent Sky as it’s now called I believe.

Be prepared for a shock if you go to Lands End, just to park costs an arm and a leg.

What engines are in it now? Last I heard BMW got cold feet over product liability or similar and wouldn’t support them.

I didn’t know steel was used at all on aircraft of that era. I’m fairly sure it wouldn’t be DH or Rotol which narrows it down quite a lot.
Did Fairey make their own props for the Swordfish?

    Edit:
    Apparently they did – Fairey-Reed.

It always impresses me when I see a Nimrod do what appears to be a full 90ΒΊ wingover.

    That’s a lot of aeroplane.

I think it took everybody by surprise, me included.

    Mark

It surprised me when I watched the video – and I hoped it was going to be there.

    I couldn’t agree more.
This thread caused creaking and groaning in the old brain and I remembered something I found years ago – http://www.dack.com/web/bull****.html

It’s a bullsh*t generator, saves you having to think up your own.
You’ll have to guess what the asterisks mean, I’ve been censored!

The rolling Vulcan is on the DD Farnborough in the 50s video. I suppose low-level is relative. It’s not particularly low by aerobatic standards, but it is a Vulcan…
It’s not a very clear shot, almost out of the frame. It appears to have taken the photographer by surprise. I wonder why. πŸ™‚

It’s a great achievement, and the first one was impressive but it looks so much better as a single-seater.

    I’ve no idea Frank.
He does say that when he speaks to people in France, and IIRC, on the UK south coast there’s no problem but here I only seem to get about 30% of the speech.

A relation calls me from France on it periodically. Appalling sound quality, we usually have to give up and revert to a landline.

I had something better to do, I was at a beer festival.

However, I do usually watch it, solely for the Wogan commentary.
