Hasn’t Mac OSX got a Unix/Linux core?

It appears to me the biggest trouble with Linux, in all varieties, is that because of it’s nature of being developed by techies, they don’t understand user-friendliness because they know how to do it. I’m trying to get to grips with it but having only ever used Dos and various Windows incarnations, it’s quite a struggle.
I have a laptop with five operating systems on it (soon to be six, OS/2 Warp 4 for the hell of it) and by far the fastest is BeOS. As a virtually dead OS, there’s not a great deal of software about for it but it had great potential.
I’m playing with SuSE 8.2 and Mandrake 9.
So far SuSE appears easier.

I’ve not been back long myself.

I’m beginning to think I’m jinxed, the last airshow we went to was Coventry on the Saturday. Two in succession is a shock.
From a purely selfish point of view, the saving grace was that we didn’t actually see it, the Blenheim and a Hurricane were taking off right in front of us and we were watching them.

I was thinking about Moggy’s Delphin post today and wondering if it warranted a complaint to the Broadcasting Standards Commission. I’ve not seen any of today’s footage, and I don’t want to, but the usage and inferences do seem to be unacceptable.
Any thoughts?

I’ve got an Olympus C300-Z.
3 megapixel, 2.8x optical zoom plus waste-of-time digital zoom, comes with 16 Mb card but I bought a 128 Mb for about 18 quid.
USB rather than docking staion but I also think USB’s better.
Perfectly happy with it ’til I dropped it at Duxford a week ago.
Unfortunately, expensively damaged but not enough to claim on the insurance.

If I was buying one now, I’d go for the Olympus mju 300. Metal case, smaller and lighter and a work of art. List price is £350 ish but a mate’s just found one for around £265 on the net somewhere.

If you youngsters will stop bickering…

I will be in the Flypast enclosure on Saturday as well. My hair is long past the grey highlights. I think there is still the odd fleck of the original brown. I’m also informed it’s too long but I don’t take any notice. Long-suffering lady in tow, Olympus SLR strategically to hand, hand-rolled coffin nail IN hand. Will probably take the opportunity to buy the new edition of Spitfire – the History while I’m there but I’m not lugging that around all day for identification.

I’ll add my thanks to the rest. As a relatively new user, I’ve missed it too.

As to why, possibly because they could?
It just finished off a rotten day. Went to a party on Saturday which was great. Went to Duxford Sunday afternoon and dropped my digital camera from about 3 feet on to concrete. Arrived home to find a seriously failed PC and after lashing up another one found a hacked Flypast forum.
Went to bed, grumpy.

The four Hunters pics are great but the pics after are exactly why we’re not going this year.
Only missed one since it first started, can’t remember why now, but it’s dawned on us that we don’t actually watch most of the displays.
Not interested in one F-16, let alone more, don’t like eggbeaters, blow up that flying coffee table, Harrier and Reds are OK but seen them so often don’t take much notice, always watch BBMF, would have quite liked to see the Phantom and Starfighter… that’s it.
