Few pics from Newark on Sunday.
Had to tweak the Vulcan ones to get some light underneath so they’re a bit washed out above the wing.
    First one, airbrakes out.

Coanda, you beat me to it!
Not entirely fair to say Duxford’s TSR2 is gutted, it was never finished. The Cosford one was complete and airworthy when the project was scrapped.
That reminds me, there’s an engine access panel from XR222 at Newark. What’s it doing there and why isn’t it fitted where it belongs?

Can’t be certain the nose is from the RAFM Beverley but it does ring bells.
I’m staggered a national museum could scrap one of only two survivors, and the last ever aircraft to fly into Hendon.
I seem to remember the reasons given were it was structurally unsafe, they couldn’t really afford to repair it and as there was no chance of it being under cover it hadn’t got a long term future anyway.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but in a “democracy” aren’t the politicians elected to serve the electorate, and their wishes, NOT just do what they personally want?

They’re all overpaid, self-seeking windbags anyway. Somebody once said that anybody wanting to be a politician should be barred for life from being one. True.

So long ago I can’t remember (which could actually mean last week now) I voted for a common market… sorry.
    I still agree with that.
I’ve never been asked about anything more.

What politicians of all flavours don’t seem to realise is that the majority of people in this country want less European integration and influence, not more.

Can’t believe the Swift’s not on those lists.
Not too well up on paraffin heaters so I don’t know the significance of most of those that are listed. Buccaneer S1 is important ‘cos it has proper engines. 🙂

Beverley nose looks extremely sad. Didn’t look closely so no idea about inside but, at a glance, a distorted shell.

Vulcan pics to follow. They’re on the laptop so I’ve got to transfer them to this old dog. I’ll try tweaking ’em first.

Yes, they ran the Vulcan APU a few times.
I took a few pics but in hindsight it wasn’t really worth it. You can see the airbrakes are out and if you look carefully you can see the bomb dors are open but they’re not much really. Confused the auto-exposure a bit, it’s dark under a Vulcan! If anybody wants to see them I’ll post ’em but I wasn’t planning to.

I assume it must be the fuselage I saw yesterday. Didn’t cross my mind to ask what it was, must be brain failure. Fairly short section, back to mid wing or so from memory.
It’s in a compound with the Gannet, Hunter, An2(?) and a few others. Couldn’t see any public access but didn’t look too hard, cold wind and showers outside.
I’ll be at the Showground in a month or so for the kit-car show so I’ll try to get a pic. Might be too far away for the digital so could have to wait ’til I finish the film in the SLR at Waddington.

A Hurricane did a couple of circuits of Newark just as I drove off around 4 yesterday – b****y typical. Flew off roughly east afterwards. Wind was very gusty. Tricky landing awaiting presumably.

Lasted a long time but didn’t use much airspace.

Apart from the junk piled behind it, it was nice to see with the wings down. Think the last two or three I’ve seen have all been folded.

Swift’s on jacks with no wheels on it, looks like it’s being tarted up.
They ran the APU on the Vulcan a few times and cycled the airbrakes and bomb doors. Hardly exciting but better than totally silent.
