I hope they either get rid of the wasted white space or massively reduce the number of stickies. Currently they take up nearly half the page.
I was getting notifications until late August. Until this thread, partly due to the forum being down and going on holiday I hadn’t posted since so I assume it’s only following the update.

Pprune went through the same or similar update a few months ago and after much vociferous complaining it now looks pretty close to the previous version. Certainly the vast acreage of wasted white space has been substantially reduced and the contrast increased with a darker blue. There are nearly twice as many visible posts on a page compared to this forum.
I don’t remember it ever running at the speed of continental drift though…

Although I can’t lay my hands on them at the moment to check, I’m pretty certain that the BF 110 is called Jaguar in one or more editions of Aircraft of the Fighting Powers.
Obviously without checking I’ve no idea now if it was generally or a specific variant.

Reviving an ancient thread having just got back home after a trip down South including Legends.
My FoD card is current until the end of this month and I was in two minds about whether to go for the discounted first year IWM membership but not now.
The existing FoD benefits I was expecting until the card expired have been replaced by the IWM scheme.
The 20% discount in the cafes and shops is now 15% but I could live with that as I very rarely eat at Duxford and might only have a couple of cups of tea or coffee if I’m there for a full day.
I had to pay £10 to get my other half into the flightline enclosure and the previously free coffee, tea and biccies is now a special discounted member’s price of £1.95 for a teabag in a paper cup.

I suppose some clever accountant will be able to prove that the one-time payment of £17.80 is better than the £40-odd a year they’d have had indefinitely for an old fogies FoD membership.
It might pay for one of the innumerable green T-shirts exhorting people to ask about membership…

I obviously remembered – or didn’t – George Dowty’s history wrongly. Perhaps an author had worked with him previously.

I’m pretty sure I read about the constant-speed conversions in The DH Story. I’ll see what it says. It’s a thick book, I may be a while…

IIRC, Finningley used to get 100,000 for a one day airshow 20 odd years ago.
The RAF – and other air forces – had a lot more noisy heavy metal then though.
We stopped going to Waddington, although it’s only an hour away, because we realised we weren’t particularly interested in anything that was flying, not least F-16s from half a dozen different countries. Possibly a slight exaggeration but there were a lot!

BS could be Bristol Standard or similar, it’s not something I’ve come across as I only worked in commercial metals, not aerospace – old or otherwise – but I’m pretty certain that B.S. xxxx will be British Standard.
