Thats an opinion……..but as far as STOVL goes, given past history I would not look at that descision as set in stone.
Good points…..but………as long as you brought it up……..when was the last time Mica killed an enemy a/c at 30km?
As amazingly effective (at what they are designed to do) as SSBNs are, the question still must be asked…….if they are so expensive that building them scraps the effectivness of the rest of your navy, are they truely worth it?
Yes…..all my comments on this post have favored one side. Oh thats right, I’v only made two. One was (kind of) seeking clarification on a really badly written out post, and the other was to point out an obvious bias.
well its pretty clear that you arent neutral.
all island belong to china because of history. all countries want to fight china for the islands did not exist in history. the island belong to china since han dynasty!! no filipine in that time!!
?????????????
Works OK on the modern SSNs/SSBNs !
Yes it does. But without the reactor, there were some pretty harsh problems. Not exactly the fast in the dive.
Well the French had a couple of subs with 8in guns in a turret and a seaplane. They found it to be very impractical to say the least. The RN actually had a sub with a 12in gun. And lets not even get in to the subs that were powered by steam turbines.
How much money will it cost when the British switch back to “cats and traps” next year?
How many troops will be accomadated?
In the proposed defense budget the uSAF had to cut several “nice to have” things to keep the more important stuff funded.
Remember, the USAF is not an airline…if they use a larger than necessary aircraft to get an urgent mission done, no big deal…they don’t have to worry about profit and loss.
There is always more money..tax money…available. :rolleyes:They’d rather use more fuel and have higher flying costs for the few missions than spend a lot of money on a new airframe.
The Air Force could have thought of that befor they stole them from the Army.
Well back to the old plans Jonesy:p I am going to miss the old STOVL vs CATOBAR arguments. Now the choice is made however much I dislike it I prefer getting behind it and pushing for both carriers to be retained and a clear program from the MOD for induction into service of carrier and F35B.
Anyhow guys still want to do the HMS QE Key Pub forum float out gathering in a few years time with our honorary Brit Lieger invited of course! We can all sink a few beers then and laugh about it all…
So……in your opinion……..this is the FINALE change in plans?! I have more faith in the Brits ability to absolutly muck up things like this. No no no! I forsee two or three more switches between CATOBAR and STOVL befor this is over. (with the probable result of niether of these ships going into RN service.)
the Air Force never wanted the C-27J, they just didnt want the Army to have them. Once they stole them from the Army, they said they had no need of these brand new planes, and are tossing them.
France becomes another greece around december. Mark my words.
Nic
Its interesting that Greece hasnt really cut its military back despite its disappointing economy, while on the flip side, Germany is doing quite well and has cut its forces substantialy.
What happens if they pick the F-35B and go STOVL, then after the US elections the F-35 is canned? Are there any other planes on the planet that could be used with ski jumps and no arrestor gear…apart from buying back some third hand Harriers
Are there any YAK-38s sitting around anywhere?
