according to an interview on CNN-IBN of a passenger, the Indian members of the flight were given the hotel and such hours after the other passengers were accommodated.

nope none of those pics are taken in India.

India leased the IL 62M from Aeroflot in 1989 and operated on the BOM/DEL-MOW sector. In 1991 2 more IL 62Ms were leased from Aeroflot but were operated in full Aeroflot colors.

This particular IL 62M, which was wet leased was the only IL 62M that operated with Air India titles on it.

Other than that AI also leased 2 IL 76 in 1991 for cargo ops.

I have been there…few years back. Its almost as exciting as my experience of landing at Paro in Bhutan.
