I’ve only had chance to skim parts of this yet but it is excellently written. I noticed mention of 38 Sqdn. being a “sister” Squadron and mention of being based at Shallufa. Is there any mention of 37 Squadron? They went out with 38 to Middle East Command.

Terrible incident. And it seems that but for the tenacity of the crew and passengers this incident could have had a very different outcome. But the security checkpoint is not an issue in this case is it as the axe was already aboard the aircraft?

Everyone seems to consider this to be very good news. And so it is. The more opportunities for people to enjoy accessible and affordable travel the better.

So, why does danairboy insist on criticism and also have a go at Monarch? What reason does he have to consider himself so elitist? Travel is said to broaden the mind but it certainly seems to have had the opposite effect on danairboy. In fact, if your airline doesn’t serve a three course meal or the threads a bit loose on the seat covering you really have no right to operate.

Less frills means increased opportunity.

Using that as a point in this discussion is wrong. Justifying your whingeing about the quality and price of food by using charities is unacceptable. Burger King and Macdonalds are non existent? Well, they certainly are in Somalia and the Sudan.

Bless. But assuaging your ego by telling everyone here that you donate to Oxfam is again unacceptable. This was a thread about the service on Air Europa was it not? Your first post was good and informative, it told Airline owner that there was no service but a seat. Excellent. So why the rest of your sanctimonious drivel I don’t know.

Yes, of course. Sandy’s remark, much as I hate to agree with him, shows the shallowness of your attitude to world poverty. As long as you get your month in Thailand you don’t mind dropping the odd fiver in the box. But heaven forbid if someone should ask you to pay a fiver for a sandwich.

Very interesting. Are Ryanair as bad as they are made out to be? I don’t know. I’ve flown Ryanair once and the cabin crew were friendly, courteous and helpful. As for their working conditions? Well, I didn’t altogether understand the following….

“Apparently, we are the face of the company but we are constantly being slapped in it! We work six day weeks, averaging on ten hours a day, no breaks, no perks (as many think we have) and only two days off. Ryanair have taken the glamour out of flying – we are physically and mentally wrecked. Of course by our sixth morning being at work at 5.30 we’re are not as “on the ball” as we would be on our second morning – we have no choice, it’s like we’re under a compliment to Ryanair for giving us a job. Six day weeks with two days off? how does that one work? Or are they talking about twelve day fortnights? If the latter that is bad.

Ten hour shifts aren’t that bad, they’re not on their feet all that time. Try a ten or twelve hour shift in an NHS hospital. As for choice, yes you do have one. Exercise that choice if yopu wish. I thought it was illegal to bar trade unions but apparently not. So, if Ryanair staff have a genuine grievance exercise that choice but do it en masse. Every Ryanair worker refusing to work on a certain day would do a lot to change management’s views would it not? But you would all have to act collectively.

Ryanair are not there to make it glamorous for the staff, they are in business to make money.

What is your problem?

People on here with more knowledge than you and I added together have suggested there is no longer the demand. And I doubt you’d get a hot meal now.

I sometimes wonder why you visit this forum. You have very little to contribute and much of your time and energy is spent creating threads no one is particularly interested in, raising the same topic again and again, I don’t have to say that it is do I? And whingeing incessantly about one thing or onather.

Please, give it a rest.

If you’re like it at home no wonder your partner spends so much of his time flying.

Airlines, as a seasoned traveller you should know this, have rules about how many people they can carry with mobility problems due to the problems which would ensue in the event of emergency evacuation. Wheelchairs don’t go down the slides very well do they? Your suggestion that Aer Lingus should send an A330 each week is ludicrous. Don’t you think that if it was probable they would have done it anyway? Conversely they can fill aircraft to BHX for the Cheltenham Festival.

Pau is half hour by bus and has a scheduled daily Ryanair flight. Exactly how far is Tarbes from Lourdes? I was quoted 21 Euros from Lourdes to Pau by taxi. About 14 quid?
