    Martin.

“Now I have nothing against women being pilots, I know a few myself and they are pretty good, however both my experiences have been dismal.”

You do realise what dodgy ground you are on here? Your attitude is very condescending and, as Moondance said, will stand you in good stead in the future. Your experiences may have been dismal, but you don’t know the whole story do you? Are you fully aware of weather conditions at the time? Were any other factors contributory to your ‘dismal’ experiences?

“On the BA flight both were females, we taxied at about 60 or 70 knots…no exageration there, and the landing was once again awful.”

60 or 70 knots? You’re sure? Perhaps one of the forum’s pilots could tell us whether that is feasible, practical or how many rules would have been broken by doing so?

“Women can make very good pilots, however it has actually been proven that on average they aren’t quite as good at the main factors involved in flying as men, these factors are things such as spacial awareness and high pressure situations….sorry girls.”

Can you provide a source for that statement please? Without substantiation it is nothing more than conjecture. High pressure? I’ve seen women work under extremely high pressure in the NHS, often coping better than their male counterparts. As for ‘spacial’ awareness, shouldn’t that be spatial? And as for your parting shot, ‘sorry girls’ you really are making a rod for your own back.

Finally, all of your comments come from someone who is about to undergo ATPL training, about to. Perhaps your comments would carry more weight if you had completed your training first.

I wish you luck with your future career.

This event is rapidly drawing upon us, just thought it was time to bring it back to everyone’s attention again.

    Hi, Comet.

I have no great interest in football, and even less interest in ‘pop’ music, but I think it is a little unfair to criticise the Beckham’s too harshly. They are victims of their own success. While you and I have no wish to read of the 100,000 pound farewell party they are to throw, which tatto design David will choose next or what Victoria has or has not eaten, sadly, there are millions who do. They are bringing their children up in the manner they choose and, so far, without the scandal of other so called ‘celebrity’ marriages. They are accused of being dense, obviously so dense that they are raking in another ten million while on holiday in Japan. I wish I was that dense, I really do. As for David and football, I believe he is a player who, even when not playing well, gives 100%, there aren’t that many you can say that about.

So, they leave for Spain, the British press might give them a rest, but they’ll only focus on someone else.

Superb photograph! Wouldn’t look out of place on the cover of a Richard Bach title.

    Andy.

Love the close ups, the Trislander and the Baron look great. The control tower is also great, a piece of airfield architecture showing its age, very evocative.
