How “complete” is the Mustang?
Spitfire jigs in the country are pretty limited and parts are getting ridiculously rare at the moment..
I think Brendan had a pretty good list of Spitfires surviving in Australia…
Silver Cad for generally everything or black Cad for instrument screws.
Well it is rectangular.
Think off memory it was a restoration thing.
Cant get them remade?
Think Covid has slowed things down.NSW has been hit pretty hard…Te392 is local up here but seems to fly mainly on the south side of Brisbane..Ive never seen it up here at Caboolture.
Not thinking of Mh415 or Te392?
And now currently up for sale…
Thought it was hanging from the rafters like the Spit?
With a lot of the big restoration shops you can pretty much turn up with a big wad of cash and they will build you anything you want.P51,s are just kit projects now and I think P40,s and Spits fit the same bill.Biggest thing is clarity of what it is.Passing off something its not is what gets up everyones nose.
“To my mind, the identity must sit with the restored, airworthy aircraft; it was brought into the facility, repaired as necessary, and the skin panels changed – the intention was always that the identity would remain with the flying aircraft; the skins were merely a byproduct of the repair.
The same is clearly true of the Mosquito – it represents an original collection of parts that can be used for display, but which carry no identity – maybe ‘formerly TV959’, but that’s it!”
Exactly. On the Spit its the lower part of the firewall that is sought after even though they are interchangeable.
A few bits of that Hurricane survive still.Interesting history ex Singapore defender survivor…
There is some work going on in Brisvegas last I heard on the engine front. That was a few years ago.
