So what is it, a clone copy of the Kilo, or something built with Kilo tech?
Isn’t this rather suspicious that Bill Gertz suddenly wrote this article after this picture was just released a few days ago?
Wouldn’t it be great to see one of these in a Bond film, at least it would be a good way of getting a look inside one π
But they already had a hovercraft in Die Another Day.
Must be a fairly efficient missile if it has half the weight of the Sunburn, 2/3 of the diameter, and a larger payload. Well, I guess the Sunburn is dated technology at any rate.
Holy cow, that’s a large diameter missile. Even bigger than the Sunburn? Here are some Kh-41 specs for comparison..
Lenght: 9.75 m(3M80E)
Diameter: 76 cm
Span: 130 cm(wings folded), 210 cm (wings spread)
Weight total: 4150-4500 kg(3M80E)
Warhead: 320 kg HE
Propulsion: solid propellant booster + ramjet sustainer
Sustainer engine: 3D83 ramjet(developed by MKB Soyus):
– firing velocity: Mach 1.8 – 2.5
– burning time: 250 seconds
Flight speed: Mach 3(at high altitude), mach 2.35 at low altitude and Mach 2.5 at terminal stage
Guidance: inertia, active radar homing (GosNII “AlΒ΄tair”)
Range: low altitude launch: 150-180 km, high altitude launch: up to 250 km

Thank you.
Excellent pics, Steve.
I think the South Koreans have ordered 3 of the slightly smaller Murana-Es, with two more for future purchase/
Looks like a Kilo, smells like a Kilo, weighs a kilo. π

Wait for Google to look it up from JDW. I was talking about a report from JDW last year when India signed the Phalcon deal.
I posted the Dawn report because it was by Rahul Bedi who also filed the JDW report.
I’m not really sure what article you’re talking about. I searched, but did not find anything within 2003 of last year.
The only awacs range I could find was for the A-50Eh modified version for China that is supposed to be able to detect cruise-missile sized targets out to 463km.
7 CSGs in 5 theaters
So the China article is plain BS.
Looks like it’s time for seahawk to eat humble pie. Mmmmm, tastes good, right? π
I don’t know the answer to that – ‘cos I don’t know what a ‘King Elephant’ is.
But to the question –
“What is the difference between an Indian Elephant and an African Elephant??”
the answer is – “about 3,000 miles!!” π
Ken
Haha haaaaa. π Good one Ken.
Blackcat, for someone vigorously complaining about people not knowing the difference between a White Elephant and a King Elephant, your own English itself is impossible to read. I suggest you try better next time, otherwise i can’t see why the mods should leave a message alone which is unreadable anyway…
I thought that using text messaging type of language is forbidden?
What exactly is the different between a King Elephant and African Elephant anyhow?
welcome over_G. π
Mate what about the FRAM’s (Gearings and Carpenters and Sumners) and of course the big Iowas?
Of course, don’t want to forget the Iowas and the Gearings, but the Albany and Grau are both cruisers, hence the thought came to mind. And no offense to the Peruvian navy, but I find the Grau to be like the Albany- quite ugly. π The slight refit just makes them more so.
