Correct. Most of the warbirds are owned by Mr Smith, and some of the interesting civil types like the CW-22 and Trimotor.

So far, the P-38, TBM and Trimotor from the museum are up for sale.

Two million would buy him.. oh, I don’t know – something faster lower down. More exclusive. Maybe with twin engines, and a T tail…

Two million would probably allow you to make a start on thinking about the tooling necessary to build the first engine! 🙂

I’m impressed that Andy was apparently involved in the Wright Flyer move in 1928, he must be considerably older than he looks! 🙂

……..plans to move a much older and rarer aeroplane to the other side of the world…….

I’m intrigued as to how an aeroplane can be rarer than one with a single surviving example.

A quick thing the new issue of Flypast says the Typhoon has gone Cosford to have some restoration work done on her including replacing fabric on the fin and repairing the wing tips and then she is going back to Hendon

That’s not what it says, it just says “before going back on public display” and doesn’t specify where.

I think the only information posted here in this thread is that is going on loan ‘to Canada’. It is going here:

    http://casmuseum.org/home.php

Very unlikely, seeing as that particular museum closed its doors a while back. More likely to be here:

No, it was (and still is) owned by the Paul family, but was leased to OFMC from IIRC 1984 for a few years.

    2 P-40Es with OFMC
P-40N with Warbirds of Great Britain (although I don’t think it ever displayed)

    I think that’s about it.

    David,

Try telling that to my mother in law! 🙂

What the RAF did to help Poland still means a huge amount to the Poles.

Many of the older generation in Poland have never forgiven Churchill for, as they see it (with considerable justification), selling the Polish nation down the river to the Soviets to appease Stalin at the end of the War. 🙁

You’s better call Old Warden and tell them to ground the Tomtit, Tutor, ANEC, Wren, Elf, Desoutter, Comet, Mew Gull and probably a few others sharpish then AMB. 😉

And said Executive members clearly stated that they were guaranteeing any losses personally, but then seemed to conveniently forget about this commitment in the aftermath. 🙁

Back to Snoopy 7422, if he would look into Spitfires used by the Soviet Airforces he will find that there almost zero knowledge here in the west just as an example!

So is this an area of research to which we can expect the Society to direct some of these resources that you mention?
