Didn’t the last one to be auctioned end up in a static museum in China? Perhaps this one will go the same way. The Russians seem to be splurging the cash on ‘stuff’ these days, maybe it will go there.
I doubt there will be a full report since there were no injuries, the NTSB will release a ‘probable cause’ statement based on the pilot’s report to them.
Am I the only one who finds it shocking that they are scrambling about trying to cobble together some sort of a last-minute plan with only 4 months to go before the thing will make its final landing, wherever that might be? Surely a firm (and viable) retirement plan should have been formulated a decade or so ago?
The plan to keep the Vulcan at Finningley has an obvious fatal flaw. It would seem to be based largely around being funded by attracting visits by groups from education establishments, in an era when there is no spare money in the education system for such frivolities. I’d also question the technological relevance in today’s world of a 65-year old design.
