The BAPC listing, compiled by Peter Kirk in 2003, also has the following:

    1064 (Honiton) ATC
Birmingham MSI (VII) – presumably in store with all their other aero engines
    Cambridge Uni (VII) sectioned
    Brenzett (IIa) ex crash-site
Rolls-Royce HT (IIa) at Derby (owned by Cranfield Uni?)
    RAFM (IIa) in Tempest NV778
    RAFM (III)
RAFM (VII) x 2 – presumably one of these or the Srs III Cees listed as on display in front of Typhhon
Science Museum are listed as having two – a IIa and a sectioned IIb

    Roger Smith.

    Hi Roger,

So I presume MN235 has an engine fitted?

    Cheers

It`s this one, for Kermit Weeks` Tempest.
    Nice engine 🙂

There is also the ex-Jim Irving example which is now in a private collection (and not available for sale.) Is this the one which used to be at Tangmere? I seem to recall it having been recovered from the Thames estuary.

There is also a YouTube video of one in Holland which was recovered and dismantled, I guess you know of this one Cees?

    Pete

    Hi Peter,
Yes, but that’s the Belgian BAHAAT example, don’t confuse Belgians and the Dutch, History has proven that already.:D

:pHey, it’s a newspaper article, not an avaiation mag.

Our local rag (De Telegraaf) also has a habit of mixing up thins aeronautical.
Once the reported the recovery of a Hawker Hunter that had been shot down in 1944 with several dutch agents on board (it was a Hudson).

Isn’t this the airframe with a Dutch wing? IIRC it came from the Technical University Delft collection (from whence 😀 also a P47-wing came now fitted to the IWM-example at Duxford, the Tempest fuselage, Mosquito FB VI, the Stirling control column, and many more interesting bits).

    Hi Dave,

I believe the template was used at the start of the project to be able to assemble the various pieces. But as she is now there is no substructure present when I looked into the fuselage during 2006, the connection pieces of the various skinbits can be seen on the inside and it’s a magnificent achievement. I wouldn’t be surprised that his marriage failed because of this. I have to be very careful myself sometimes with the Halifax cockpit and my other activities as well no to cross the line:D

Identical apart from the co… the lever because in the instrument panel in the Beau is less room for a large handle. Mine came from Stirling N3654.

Just to be sure, I merely noticed that personal items of the crew are among the photo’s not to start a heated debate about the do’s and don’t of wreck recovery. You know where I stand about this.

The current public opinion in the Netherlands is to recover these wrecks to render safe any UXB and to give any remaning crewmembers a proper burial.
I think it’s a good idea to recover this Russian wreck, sure it’s not a nice job but a necessary one.

Before emotions might get out of hand with these topics, first think before pressing enter.:)

Mine came from Australia as well, with these things you have to be prepared to pay some hefty prices.
Just tell the wife it’s only an investment.;)

just got my replica panel back from the waterjetters and balanced some stuff on it to check it all fits 😀

If I were you I would get this for your panel, it’s one of those impossible to find items, the lever needs to be replaced though as it was probably used in a Beaufighter (like the one I have).

    Ross,

That story is incorrect and has led a life of it’s own. The structure has been painstakingly pieced together. It’s mostly original material.

Can we please drop the issue of restoration/reconstruction/fake/caked whatever? This has been done to death these past few weeks. It’s distracting from what people are achieving all over the world.

    Let’s just enjoy it.

    Cheers

    Cees
