Funny that I can read that Danish text relatively well, looks like Dutch (but very distant)
Who knows what might still be lurking out there.

Any leads?

Thanks Dave,
Yes, my own museum in the attic. The original plans for a local museum with a Lancaster cockpit and a Halifax cockpit and everything connected with them and RAF BC fell through due to personal differences. So this was my plan B. This way I have control and do not need to waste my time keeping other people happy.

Ok then,
We all know that as soon as something is found after a lot of effort an original one turns up soon. History has repeated itself again.
I think it’s great to see this item turn up. Will I make a bid for it? No!
I spent a considerable amount of money on a newly made throttle box which looks every bit original (at least so I think), you can compare the two below.
I would like to know the history of this particular throttle box out of curiosity
but also would like it to go to a good home such as a museum. I don’t think that my cockpit project would be important enough to “waste” an original throttle box on it. It deserves to be used in a restoration of an original cockpit.
Photo of the original taken from e-bay (I hope Hurricat doesn’t mind). Does he frequent this forum?

Thought so too…
I will…
Hang on then….
Want my opinion?

Pity, but I think that they did their best with the resources they had (the cost of the operation was about 650 pounds). These days more information is available how to deal with corrosionm (and even now it’s still difficult).
If Stirling EF311 would be brought up from the channel it will be race against time to stop corrosion.

As the rivets were already popping only days after the recovery I would hate to think what the condition of the wings would be now after three decades.
The fuselage already looked quite bad after recovery. Was the tail ever recovered as they planned?

I prefer cheddar rather than Gouda.
No space in the windmill, too much Halifax bits. Tried to store some of it at Tony C’s house. But he has a thing for Avro, and that clashes.:p

Well, I received the (pocket)book yesterday evening and have thumbed through it. A very interesting story and the pics in it are great. Pity it didn’t went as the team planned. ALso very strange that the onlookers reacted so strongly at the time and the team had difficulty to keep the crowd away from the wreck.
To read that at night one could hear the rivets popping through the saltwater action was also interesting.

Shall we end this photograhic discussion here?
It’s getting boring.
Or someone should be able to post some pics at the time of the recovery
of the Messerschmitt.

Can we please use the name Fokker instead of …….the other one.
Being Dutch this hurts, auch:p
