Hi all,
I am looking for a similar fire exthinguisher (the small one). One came up on e-bay recently and I had nailed it, but the vendor had sold it on in the meantime.
If anyone has any leads on one, please let me know, I can provide a good home for it.

Johnnie,
The items in the 2nd photograph looks to be a small intake and the circular being an inspection cover plate or something, don’t know about the other bits. Could the circular item be a counter weight?

by the way, I’m not an expert..
Excellent news! Now get that Bolingbroke into the air next.;)

The underwater pic looks to be a Sea Fury tailsection.

Ok I noticed too late that this “surviving” Spit is also mentioned in one of the threads, but as the book has been written by very knowledgable historians I gathered that there must have been some truth in this, even quoting the serial.

I saw this Casa at North Weald and managed to have a look inside and there was corrosion in the undercarriage bays and bombbay, that was ten years ago.

Excellent what they have done to NA337, now that she’s finished
bring on LW170 for a similar treatment!
Watch this space:rolleyes:

As mentioned in the “other” thread, this is not aimed at the famous sixties cache but a mention in the book Spitfire International about this airframe surviving until at least the eighties near Damascus.
Cees
Hi Oxcart,
No it doesn’t as the airframe I was aiming at wasn’t among this infamous batch (of course I know about these topics). I was reading Spitfires International the other day and there was a reference that in the eighties near Damascus this particular aircraft was said to be a survivor.
So hint hint;)

This is all part of the aircrafts developmentlife so is historic. Careful or we might get a thread stating that the Mossie Prototype isn’t in fact W4050 but W4051:eek:
One thread about identity crisis is enjoyable but the general tenure on this forum regarding this topic is getting annoying.

The only people who know what really matters in these cases are the ones who have first hand experience not only with recovery of aircraftwrecks but also dealing with next of kin, survivors etc. They know the feelings, the emotions, the fight against ignorance or even hostility from the official authorities, and yet they go on. Robert greinert is a man of great integrity, and really knows what he is doing.
On the other side are those with an opinion based on bias, nothing more, nothing less.
Just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less

For a Hampden you would be sitting behind each other, the fuselage is cramped for even one person, so two people side by side, look what they did to the Mosquito.
Would make a very nice project.

The IWM must have something that you can use, but using drawings of a full size aircraft to
build a scale version means a headache, or you must have some digital wizards waiting in the wings.
The plans sound ehhmmm, ……very ambitious.
Cheers.

Excellent pics, slow that may be but steady it is. Keep it up,
please keep us informed.
