Look at how the Northrop Seaplane was recovered from Iceland and looks now on display at Gardermoen. Sheer hard work but with a fantastic result.
If you don’t try you don’t succeed.

not to fly it will be static and from what I hear the lancasterremains will eventually form a complete fusleage walkthough exhibit.

I thought it was a good event, if still a bit quiet compared to previous years.
I missed one or two items (see MarkG’s thread for one and I believe the other was a Hastings control column???!!!) but still picked up some interesting stuff.
As we’ve already said, most of the stall holders are from the North or Midlands and would never be seen at Shoreham or Popham.
Lastly, the Halifax throttles are now with R.L. He seemed confident of being able to replicate them but is waiting for the drawings before making a start.
Thanks Alan,
The drawings will be in his posession soon.
Thanks for your kind help.

Well, how was it?
Any gems being found chaps?
Cees
Wellington T MKX bomber trainer perhaps?

What we need are modern kits of the Halifax, Stirling, Hampden, Blenheim etc. instead of ancient lumps of plastic covered in rivets and ill fitting canopies.

Looking forward to it, Dave.
Browsing a stall will always be so much more fun than browsing an internet site – and prices are usually cheaper, too.
Oh, and Cees, don’t forget to remind me about the Halifax throttles – I’ve got a head like Dutch cheese.
Alan,
PM sent. You should eat the cheese, not rub your face in it 😀

Thank you Turretboy, 682AL, Cees – you guys are amazing.
I hate to turn stuff over to the Curator and tell her that I do not have a clue! That just consigns it to a dusty shelf.
Thanks guys.
Deryck B.
Deryck,
I have some dusty shelves too, with some space to spare 😀 😀

Very nice,
And where were they when I was busy having a hacked off wireless operator’s seat reconstructed?
A few years too late. I still have a hacked about navigator seat fram which looks similar. The seats being offered now are both wireless operaters seats and not navigators.
Any pilots seats about before my reproduction is finished?

Thanks Alan for explaining. I have one of those bomb loading plates too and I always wondered whether it was located in the aircraft or not. I recently found out that similar plates were carried in a storage case in the bomb aimer compartment of the Wellington, so your answer confirmed my hunch. 😉

Very nice.

Essentially this is Cees Porn…right? :p
TT
Eerr 😎 no, More Halifax porn.
You wouldn’t want to see me in the nude. Although perhaps you would :p
Although I like the CD-Rom I think it’s a pity that the mysteries of the Halifax are now available to a large audience. I always liked having access to information that wasn’t generally available as the Lancaster has been for many years. It took me years to find some information of the interior and now it’s there for everyone. Bring on the Hampden…….

I couldn’t agree more, David!
IMHO I think it is a very simple idea to think that the RAF should recover their former aircraft containing human remains. It’s a fact that the gouvernment of the country involved has an obligation as well to recover these wrecks. I believe that most countries signed an agreement in which they committed themselves to actively recover wrecks containing wargraves. Now, we all know that with the costs involved a lot of countries do not wish to do so.
But in case of the Beaufighter, the Norwegian authorities should be the first to take action.
