I’ve done that too but child protection legislation killed that one off.
I’ve never had that problem – I get invited in by a teacher and/or Head, and am not left alone with them!
Definately 4-engined, the needles on manifold and RPMs go 1234
What’s sort of ironic is that a certain aviation writer and long-serving member of Air Britain lives there!!!!
Typical Paine Field weather!
Lee has been trying to get hold of someone at SH, but as a lot of the old guard have gone, its difficult for the newer members to know where the stuff is. I am sure that the Leavesden logs are at SH. Possibly the Hatfield ones too.
Bruce
I’ve been having trouble also with them Bruce – ever since John’s funeral I cannot get anyone to answer any emails – despite me having some stuff for them!
Long shot I know, but what about Hatfield RAeS?
I would also try Salisbury Hall!
I know this may sound wrong to some of you, but at least he died doing some thing he enjoyed.
He has also given much joy to many people who have seen him flying Shuttleworths aircraft.
May he be at peace.Bob T.
I agree completely!
Lets hope and prey that the usual daily mail reporting is correct in that its mostly wrong and jumps the gun.
Sadly, from one who saw the latter part of the incident, in this case they are broadly correct.
Just back from Old Warden – the news is not good at all, but it is not in my place to reveal any name, or speculate as to the cause.
DH Gazette regularly reported membership to that group – given that’s it’s 1934-1954, I probably have the presentation event on file. Is there a recipient name on it? The attached is the report for June 1954.

Mike did ask to have the painting changed. When he was given it. So this must been taken at Mike’s house. As i’ve only seen it twice. It was made up of photo’s we had taken.
The car was Mike Princess ant the CF van was my works van. I had to follow the trailer with the fuselage on, closely as you couldnt see the indecators very well.
Dave
I can confirm that Mike got Ed Miller to change the painting after it was presented to him – I think it was also changed again at a later date as well, so there could be three different ‘versions’ that had pictures taken!
Wasn’t the cause a control restriction caused by a modification of the seat harness?
Sad, as I thought the aircraft looked good in her wartime ambulance scheme.
Did the airframe survive?
For those interested in the accident report to G-AHGD, it can be found here

No-one lost their lives in the Tango Mike incident. Sadly Peter Treadaway went in in ‘Women of the Empire’ at Audley End
The Skoda did not look very good either!
