Also makes sense to me!
Thanks for all the info so far. This came from someone who contacted me out of the blue, so I’m sort of working 3rd hand here! I’ll see what else I can come up with.
I’ll dig out picts!
I want to say one of the London Department Stores – Selfridges maybe?
Jack Malloch was also involved with Bill Armstrong and the whole Biafrian episode
It’s all in the book! *winks*
I once brought the very badly damaged pilot’s side windscreen of 41-24485 Memphis Belle back for the Tower Museum at Bassingbourn, but the funniest event occurred a couple of years later when I air-freighted my BMW motorcycle by CP Air 74 out of Gatwick into Toronto….
At one stage we had THREE tickets issued…. Mr G M Simons, Mrs A Simons and Mr M Byke (I joke not!) but eventually the bike went into the hold on a pallet along with all our luggage, so my wife and I…. still in our motorcycle leathers effectively became walk-on passengers – but they would not let us put our crash-helmets in the hold with the bike, so we had to carry them on board…
Picture the scene – one 74 fully loaded taxies to the end of 08 LGW… just as Captain Speaking opens up the taps, two bikers down the back put their helmets on – nearly pax fill their pants, and CSM does her nut!!!
We had both lids removed from us ‘for safe keeping’ before landing!!!!
Oh well… cannot take a joke and all that!
My apologies for not having made it, but I’m still not yet cleared by the Medics to travel!
I was under the impression that the Russians still had parts of Gary Powers’ U-2 wreckage, and that the Chinese/Vietmanese has wreckage of the Dragon Ladies they they shot down…
Unless you pick the currants/raisins out first. :p
Brian
Hey!… I do that as well!!!!
Any timings planned – or is it just ‘show up’?
Involving different people I am sure, there was also ‘something’ that happened in the 1950s within the FAA where both aircraft and spares were sold off illegally that ended up in a court case. I was told this is the reason why a large number of aircraft record cards are no longer in existence, as they were destroyed to hide the evidence.
It’s something I have never satisfactorily gotten to the bottom of!
Cannot say exactly yes/no atm, but I’ll certainly try and make Newark on the 8th
Mine dates from when Pontious was a pilot!
(OK, I’ll get me coat!)
They look like flying wire pins…. but what aircraft?… no idea
