Whittlesford..BUT
Any one know the nearest train station to duxford. how far away ect.
Whittlesford is nearest and is on the Cambridge/Liverpool St line. Its about a mile (at a guess)to the airfield.
Better bet is likely to be to go to Cambridge and to use the free shuttle bus from there.

Thank you

I am very grateful Janie; hopefully I will be able to thank you in person on the day. For some reason I could not (indeed still cannot) find this page on the site from TFC’s homepage.

I understand that Alex Henshaw will be speaking at the event.
Tremendous. Any idea when booking information will be placed on the website?

Thanks Mark and Eddie – the four blades should have been a giveaway for a Tempset rather than a Typhoon.
Woody
The Defiant is the one at Hendon, but the Beaufighter went to Canada in exchange for the Bolingbroke/Blenheim now at Hendon.
Woody,
Hendon and Canada respectively as stated.
Here are a couple of ‘deathly dull side on static shots’.
Mark
Albert and Mark – many thanks for your responses. Mark – I assume that’s a Typhoon behind the Beaufighter in your latest not so deathly dull shot? If so, presumably it is also now at Hendon?
What a line-up. Were any of them flyers in 1968?
Woody
Mark – Great pictures (as ever). Are the Defiant and Beaufighter the ones now at Hendon? If not, any idea where they are now?

£££££££££££££££!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps a sensible response to the popularity of (and traffic chaos experienced at) the D-Day anniversay show this year?
Thanks for the heads up Ashley.

Lightning at RAF St Mawgan on holiday in Cornwall, 1972. I was three and sitting on my father’s shoulders when it took off and went into a virtical climb on full afterburn. My father tells me that I was rather disconcerted.
The first I remember was (I am fairly sure) at Duxford in the mid-70s. I vividly remember the BBMF (Spit, Hurri and the Lancaster), a Mosquito and a Vulcan. I have photos (the first I ever took) somewhere.
Woody
Great pictures. I am very jealous. 😀
Thanks for posting and enjoy Reno.
Woody
Mark 12 – does it survive to this day?
Woody
very many many thanks for such an excellent day Skybolt…… and long may it continue.
I’d echo those sentiments Reginald. My son and I had a great time and are already looking forward to next year.
I attach a picture of Janie as a taster before the forum’s serious photographers get home.
Woody
sorry for the quality of the photos, but the front canopy glass is 3″ thick, and the rest of the canopy is not exactly photo quality glass. Great for stopping bullets (and birds!), but lousy for taking photos.
To be honest the warts n’all quality was what I really liked about your pictures.
As for Nelson’s latest project I’m afraid that I can’t say anything yet. As soon as it’s public I’ll let you know.
Thanks Steve and I hope I wasn’t being too cheeky.
Enjoy the Sea Fury, she’s a mighty and beautiful bird 🙂 .
Woody
Good news Steve and thanks for the pictures. (I particularly liked the one looking forward.)
You mentioned a while ago that Nelson Ezell has an exciting new project; are you now able to divulge the details?
Woody
Please, no more than two interviews! I buy DVDs to watch the aircraft and some have too many ‘talking heads’ describing what this and that was like to fly etc., which is really quite unecessary
Each to his own Albert.
I found the Keith Skilling interview about flying the Lavochkin which compared it to other types on the 2003 DVD extremely interesting. The cockpit footage that followed was breathtaking. I only wish that Keith had been able to offer the comparison to the Bearcat or other late/immediate post-WWII types which he said that he hoped would be possible at some point once the engine had been “run in”.
I also find vets’ recollections about the respective characteristics/merits of different types compelling.
Woody
Longer the better as far as I am concerned. (Might be a different issue for video users without the chapter facility of DVD.)
I spent the Saturday of Legends 2004 just absorbing the experience and not getting too worried about recording anything on my camera for posterity safe in the knowledge that the highlights would be captured on your DVD.

(PS I hope that Ed Shipley landing Twilight Tear makes the cut!)
