yea sorry i was jsut in general the jte has too many aspect i do not know for example the Antonov company in the Discovery channel video said tha the An-225 could carry 1000 passenger making it the largest capability of modern aircraft i do not know why the An-124 has not been transformed into a passenger aircraft
Simply it is not built for it đ
I simply like the jet and i feel it deserves to be discussed since it is a huge aircraft i have a video of it that i tape from the discovery channel and i love it since then
Yes, the An-124 is an interesting plane. But for the beginning of a discussion, you should have at least mentioned your intentions what you would like to discuss.
I mean everyone could open a thread with the name of his or her favorite airplane, but I think that is not really the meaning of a forum if you have threads like “Discuss the Spitfire or the 727” without a real point to it.
What can you discuss about a plane when you don´t have any questions ? You could only post senseless phrases like : “it is huge”, “it is loud” or “I like the Galaxy better.”
-Just my 2 cents –
I don’t see how the massive An-124 could be considered an interim (i.e. stopgap) for a poncy little aircraft like the A400M.
Anyway, the upgrades to the An-124 aren’t just possible, they’re happening, and the production line is still open. The An-124-100M is going to be built very soon:
For the Nato it is only an interims solution to lease or rent some AN-124s, they won´t buy any.
I heard of the upgrades and wasn´t quite sure if they are decided, yet, but thanks for the info.
Ther Russians monster aircraft
What is your purpose with this statement and this thread ?
Do you want to discuss that the AN-124 will be the Nato interims transporter untill the A400M enters service.
Or do you want to talk about the possible upgrades for this aircraft like western engines and avionics and a new start of the production line.
There is also a 2nd An 225, which is waiting on the assembly line and the chances are quite good that they will finish it.
I am not very interested in eastern planes, but one thing you have to admit, the russians know how to built transport planes.
However, for an inclusive tour airline an all A321 fleet would mean abandoning a lot of regional UK departure points or operating with 60 seats haha!
Well, that is why you will never find an all A321 airline -at least I don´t know one.
The A321 is the logical development of the A320. It was built for airlines that need to fill the gap between the A320 and the bigger 757/767 or A310/A300. The A321 only makes sense if you are flying A320 or A319 aswell.
Boeing made a big mistake by not filling this gap (the 737-900 was an idea, but didn´really work out) and in the beginning not to take Airbus serious enough with the A320-Project.
So Boeing made the only right thing by looking to the market above the 737 and A320-Family by announcing the 7E7 to peplace the 757/767 and A300/A310.
It seems that Airbus learned from the mistakes of Boeing by introducing the A350 as an answer to the 7E7.
First of all, I must say I am big fan of the 757-200. I don´t like the -300, but I said that already in a different thread.
What I see here is again is the constant struggle of Boeing and Airbus fans which is the better plane.
I personally don´t have any preferences I like both Airbus and Boeing they both make great planes. Well, the key point of this conversation is that the A321 is replacing the 757 in a lot of charter airlines especially in the UK.
The only pro argument of the 757 here, which is posted here in every second answer is that “the 757 outperforms the 321 at hot and high airfields and operating from airports like GIB.”
Well it seems that is the only argument of some people here and they are holding to it as if is this the most important argument in this conversation.
But for the airlines -it looks a little bit different. They buy planes because efficeny, operating costs etc….,the arguemt mentioned above seems to be not of that importance for them.
It must make more sense to buy A321 and A320s then flying older 757.
The A321 is 15-20 years younger then the 757 and there it is clear that it has some qualities that the 757 naturally don´t have, -therefore the 7E7 will be more efficent then the A330-200 is now, that is called development.
It is clear that a modern airliner will replace some of the ” older legends of the sky”. And I rather see an A321 that at least looks like a plane, then a “blended-wing” which will probably replacing “normal aircraft” in 20 years.
I have to agree with the Boeing-fans here tthat the A321 is the ugliest of the A320 family and if it would be for me Lufthansa, Condor, Hapag Lloyd, Air France etc (and Dan Air -if would still exist – I made my first flight in a Dan Air Bac 1-11) would still fly 727-200 Adv. which is the best looking airliner ever, but it had its days.
Wait a minute, Mexico already has 75 PC-9s and you think they should buy Tucanos? Is 75 not enough? And as I mentioned before, the PC-9s are not able to make catch unidentified high speed contacts. They need jets for this role.
Well the Tucano and its most important rival the PC-21 have a higher speed then the PC-9s. The T-6 Texan II which is the US-Version of the Tucano is replacing a jet, the T-37 Tweed as a Trainer. It performance can´t be so bad and as I heard from some people, they desciped it as “jet-like”.
I really believe that, it would makes sense because of its higher payload and its range in comparison with it the C-130J. Which is I guess the only rival, C-17 would be very expensive and I don´t see Australia buy Antonov or other russian aircrafts.
I think the Mexican Air Force would have to purchase aircraft which will be able to operate in conjunction with the Hawkeyes it recently purchased. This puts Russian fighters or anything like them out of contention. I am sure that a lease of New built Saab Gripen could be an option in a deal similar to the one made for Bulgaria.
Agreed, the Saab would be a better deal for the future then 2nd Vipers, they are technically state of the art. The maintance costs are much smaller and it is a very light plane that is more economic then the F-16.
It´s new Versions is Nato-Standard so you can operate them together with the USAF.
For the range problem : air to air refuelling might be an option.
I don´t know if Mexico has any tankers or planes that can be converted if not there is still “buddy/buddy” refuelling.
You mentioned the border patrol and chase of drug dealers for this task,
I think the Super Tucano might be the best choice, Brazil uses them for the same purpose.
I have read the whole F.T. article by now, it says that LH will ask Boeing and Airbus for offers. But demands from both Airbus and Boeing that they have offer a more modernised version of the 737 or A320 Family.
So if you remember the thread in which Boeing announces that some of the developments of the 7E7 will go into the 737s, it is easier for Boeing to do that because of its work on the 7E7 then Airbus with its work on the A380.
Have you all forgot the Canadair Bombardier C-series?! But those are maybe a bit too small. What’s wrong with their current 737’s? I think the A320 series will be chosen.
The C-Series which is likely to be chosen as the new LH regional jet-plane will be a replacement for Lufthansas Avros and older CRJ-200s.
The oldest 737s are built 1986 and are now about 18 years old.
I cant see LH buying anything except Airbus to replace the 737s because fleet commality is very important to airline these day.Airbus for short haul and a mix for long haul.Thats just the way I read it maybe Im wrong but AF and BA are doing it.
Well, I only can repeat myself I think it will be the 737NG. Lufthansa always had a mixed short haul fleet and went very well with that.
E.G. Easy-Jet is doing the same with a mixed fleet of A319s and 737-700s and the 2nd largest german carrier always a Boeing Customer announced that they will buy EADS-Airplanes instead of Boeing and that they will have a mixed 737-700 and-800 fleet with the A320 family.
which is long, long over due
Boeing took its time aswell. If you say so, you must admit that the 7E7 is aswell long, long over due…the 757 and 767 is as old as the A300-600 and A310.
The fiasko that followed the whole EF-story, the constant struggle if there is a next tranche, the costs….etc.
All these problems and the reports in the media are not very good if you want this airplane to other countries. You know when you want to sell a product you must be convinced of it. But after all you read it seems that England and U.K. are not very convinced of the plane at all….I know it is mostly because of bad press especially here in Germany (and Austria aswell), and all Generals, politicians and the pilots who fly the EF tell a whole different story but all this bad press is not very useful for the marketing of the EF and the winners are Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Mig and Suckhoi.
did france gave them a big discount or something.
You mean NH-Industries -the NH 90 is built by The Netherlands, Italy, France and Germany  đ
