That was the big mistake of MDD. Just improving an old airframe and selling it as a new aircraft won´t do it. Same with the MD-90.
But since I am old Dc-9 Fan, I hope that at least the 717 will survive and finally become a success -even here in Europe.

So what is actually left flying (type wise) as the last of the ‘real men’s aeroplanes’ begin to take their final bow’s ? What are the prospects for any sort of “farewell tours” ?
Nice pic’s by the way !

Germany and Turkey are still flying F-4s which I would consider as “real men´s aeroplanes”.

I agree that not all Germans were Nazis, but most were at that time. Agreed civilians suffered which is unfortunate but thats war, but for any German to even consider asking for an apology then it just takes the p***.

Well I think it is again the media who pushed this up, the constant struggle between british and german yellow press (Sun vs Bild). It always comes down to WW II or Football (Wembley ´66).
No german I know would even consider an apology because of WW II (maybe for Wembley though)
Many people believe though that the bombing of Dresden was not necessary and not right. But like I said above the Dresden topic is to be discussed elsewhere in this Forum.

Hey, calm down. Nobody wants an apology for WW II here. All the things I have to say about Dresden is in the other threat.
Let´s not start a battle about nothing : It was war back then, Germany had started it and comitted one of the worst crimes in the human history. But you have to understand that not all germans were Nazis and the civilians (on both sides) had to suffer from the bombs wether they werde droped of an He-111, Ju-88, B-17 or Lancaster.

Lawstud, I assume it was a complete rebuild. It looks a magnificent job.

Yes, except for one little Part on the other side, which you cannot see on this picture, which is originally.
To everyone here -the bombing of Dresden had no military use, they aimed for the heart of the city, not the barracs outside. The military outside of Dresden was not hit !!!!
Before you make further comments like : “Having also read the book “Dresden” by Frederick Taylor, and listened to his presentation it was a justifiable military target.” VISIT THE CITY -AND SEE FOR YOURSELF THAT THIS IS NOT TRUE !!- There were no military loses in Dresden only civilian and the famous old buildings. You can visit the old military facilities as well, there are on the edge of the town above the city -not being destroyed.
The tragody of Dresden was that it is located in a valley and so the nearly all of the city became a victim of the flames.
I have great emootional ties to Dresden, my family is originally from there. But all of my family survived the attack, which is good luck. My aunt is now married to a former B-17 Pilot and lives in the US. So I can understand both sides.

P.S. Queen Elizabeth II is doing a lot to help rebuilding the Frauenkirche. She will attend a benefit concert next week in Germany. By the way the metal work on top of the church was made by an english blacksmith, whose father was involved as a bomber crew member.

Yes the A330/A340 is very sucessfully

The replacement for the A300/A310would be the A350. Full new aircraft and Airbus says they need only 2years to make it

Noz quite true -the A350 is planed to be a long range plane. The A300/A310 were mainly used for medium and short haul flight in Europe. AFAIK there is no similar version of the A350 as to the 7E7-3.

Agreed ! And remember there is still the C-130-J which can be used as an AC-130.

Never seen anything uglier then these Boeing ATT plans 😮 Cut off the front part of a C-17 and put a wing of a C-130J on it 😮 I hope this “Frankenstein-Plane” will never be built.
As for the A400, I think it will replace most of the older C-130 in the world, but definitly not in the States. They have cargo planes in all sizes :C-130J, C-17 and will modernise their C-5 Fleet.
There is simply now room for another plane with a size that fits between the C-130J and the C-17. There is simply no need for the A400 in the USAF.
The A400 is a plane for countries that wants to have a bigger plane then the C-130J and the C-17 would be too big and too expensive.
So I see the biggest market in Europe and some Asian States. I also hope for export sales to Australia and Canada.
