    Nice shots,

SUNday was blistering zis was over 18miles 😮 you could see the Thames Forts and wind farm on the Kentish Flats from the casino it was that clear.

Today well the apocalyptic weather that “was” forcast never happened and whilst the weather was not as goos as yesterday it was still nice for a good part of the day the clag only really closed in in the last hour or so of the display, the Hawk, Vampire, gants & Typhoon all done flat shows but they still displayed the only cancellation was the RAF Falcons as the wind was picking up, the rain started to fall and there were a few lighinting bolts over the Kent coast.

Over all a superb show please Southend Council try and get the funding for another one next year.

If it brings in some money for the museum ten it can only be a good thing, many many people can not afford to go and see F1 cars on race days so if the chance to see them testing at Duxford is possible then let them do it.

As for Top Gear its one of the best programmes on TV the money they paid to use the Spits kept them where they belong in the air how often do we get to see three two seaters in the air together, if you do not watch Top gear then you should’nt comment on it if you only go by hearsay and word of mouth then storys get distorted.

Take Southend Airport for example they want to extend the runway, the protesters have made the claims that there will be:

    130 flights a night,
    A freight only operation
A new dedicated railway line to run alongside the current one
Easyjet will completely abbondon Stansted for Southend!

    and best of all…

Aircraft will only by 300ft off the ground THREE miles from the airport… Just think of the photos!

Old Fart, which book are those scans taken from?

WJ244 I have a vague recollection of the Zero 6 liveried bus in a very ’70’s’ white and purple colour scheme. I think the Triplane is at the Manchester Museum of Science and Technology now, where abouts at Coventry is the Bleriot?

Mods Can we merge this thread with the 1980’s Southend one please?

Cant rember, I scaned them years ago and put the book away somewhere will need to go caving in the cupboard under the stairs and try and dig it out, got more books stored there then blades of grass on a football pitch!… or thats what it feels like when I move them!

Point of order, Old Fart – I’m sure the Thunderstreak was behind the CASA! (at least from 1975ish onwards)

I’m thinking your right I will put it down to old age… Not older enough to rember…

This picture was sent to me, taken late 80’s shows the location of the Beverley, the fast jets (Javelin, Seahawk, meteor & Saab) were lined up facing the building with the Casa and Thunderstreak between them and the building facing the road, looking nose on to the Bev the Lincoln was to the right along with the Mitchell the Anson & Scout prototype were to the left of the Lincoln with Vampire & Drover in front… or thats how I seem to remember it.

    Probably showing my age but…

I seem to recall being on a School trip to Duxford mid 80’s ans seeing an aircraft which I think was the Sunderland split in half in a canvas hanger or temporary building somewhere between hanger 4 and what is now the American Hanger?

or am I just going nuts?
