That TBM has no business flying!!!! Incredible – lets have some more…
😮
Why some orange paint on the left wing ?
Thanks guys – appreciate it. I guess its not that rare or significant…
Fred – The picture was sent to me by someone trying to “broker” it to me. I guess the “paint” is photoshop added to hide the registration to stop me tracking it down…
Engine for the study wall, Argentina, last week!!
Not quite finished yet, but getting there.
I have the raw materials for two more if anyone is interested!!
🙂
Well everybody has to go sometime , think of the pleasure he gave us all, thanks.
Well its a shock, not least of all because I’d never have guessed he was 77. My heart felt feelings go out to his family and friends at this sad time..
Now listen. Sure its a terrible loss but, please, just put your sadness on hold for a second and take a look at this mans life. If I could have my time again I’d sure like to tick the “Can I have Ray Hannahs life” box please!!
Should we expect a little more than 77 years? Well maybe but within a few more years you’d reasonably expect to be fighting either a failing body or mind – and you know what I don’t think it would have suited him one bit.
An incredible life for a man who would rise and stay at the very top of his game. Exciting, exact and safe display flying for nearly 50 years and he lives to tell the tale.
A black armband for ‘434 but a standing ovation for Ray Hannah please for his massive contribution and a life well lived!!
Thanks Ray – what a show!!
Yes it is, it belongs to a technical school not far away from Moron in BsAs..
There have some other airframes of which I’ll post some more pictures later. I’ve just checked another pic and the serial is “553”
Yes there is a tank in there, I guess he’s standing on it?
The identity I think was serial number “553”…
Guys,
I actually posted the wrong picture (no.3) and I know its a Bristol Lucifer. Can you believe this engine is “new” and still in its original shipping container!!!
Thanks David for the tip on Cirrus Major. Can anyone confirm or give some clues as to what aircraft the Major went in?
Thanks again…
Wonder if we’ll hear the blue note off their gun port…
😀
Thanks guys!!
🙂

Mansell escapes airplane scare
FORMER World Champion Nigel Mansell is the latest to escape a dangerous airplane emergency. Mansell was flying his Cessna Citation with two passengers from Exeter to Essex when the electronics which control airspeed and altitude on the small plane failed in bad weather.
According to the Sun newspaper, the ex-Williams pilot calmly returned the plane to Exeter with the help of the flight control personnel in the tower and performed a flawless landing. The 48 year old and his two passengers were greeted by a slew of emergency vehicles, but they were not needed.
“Most people in that situation could have panicked. It must have been pretty hairy up there,” said a source from the airport in Exeter.
Nigel Mansell has a Citation I think. Didn’t he do something in an emergency and made the press??
Also I think Angelina Jolie has a PPL, or did I dream it…
🙂
Hi guys,
Thanks DJ Jay, pleased you liked the display. The Nord / 108 G-ETME is based at White Waltham and has a Lycoming engine instead of the Argus (original 108) or Renault (original Nord).
As far as I know there is one more flyer (based at Booker), and then 3 more projects. One at Duxford, one at North Weald and one at Fairoaks.
We were at Chailey last year, but marked as KG+EM.
Regards
Taifun
Thanks Dave, appreciate it…
