I think Virgin would have liked a european and domestic carrier to feed their long haul services, but I don’t think its going to be bmi.
Didn’t they have one of these not too long ago, but just decided to shut it down? I think if Virgin really wanted to have feeder routes, they have enough capitol to purchase or lease a few narrow bodies, even if they are second hand.

I would love to see Ansett re-strart, especially if UA codeshare with them once again. I’m just wondering how substancial this information is. Where did it come from?

The red engines dont really go with the star alliance livery but its a change.
I think they add some spice to it, actually. Is the Viking colour scheme the old one?
Typically once the F/A’s get the rear of the economy class cabin, one of the 2 choices is not available. But no food being available, period, that is rather unacceptable.
Had my financial situation been a little more favourable back then, I would have made it a point to have flown into Kai Tak prior to it closing. I almost convince my dad to make a trip there once, to no avail.
CX had one with the same colour scheme to this but with RR engines that used to make appearances at MEL and SYD a few years ago. Did you ever see it at MEL, Steve? I saw it at both.
Great pics. Is Bmi/BmiBaby taking all of Deutche BA’s former examples?

I’m not disputing your knowledge – this is already well proven. Do United have more than one 744 config like on the 777s (the one I checked out was N177UA on UA919 LHR-IAD on Mon 9th Feb)?
Thank you for the kind words, sir. UA once upon a time had 2 different config’s for their 744’s. The less common had a ton of first and business class seats and only like 130 economy class. Basically, between doors 4 and 5. I don’t know that those are around anymore, therefore, that leaves the ones that start at row 32 for economy. I really don’t know what to say, Mike, other than you could be right. Anytime I purchase tickets from united.com, they are classified as such. I always choose 35C/H because of the isle on lone flights is a must for me and they have the middle door for huge legroom. If I don’t get one of those, I choose 32H even though it’s at the bulkhead. The screen is right in front of you, however.

Milage Plus top notch? Agreed wholeheartedly. 🙂 And I got upgraded this morning using a Mileage plus reward ticket on bmi London – Manchester. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂Mike
The one time I flew bmi, they did this, as well! Last year between LHR and AMS, they upgraded myself and my brother while we were in the lounge.

Absolutely true. The manufacturers and the airlines solicit the PR they can muster by claiming to have bedrooms and gyms on board but you can be darn sure that when that aircraft arrives it will contain little more than seats.
The 747-100’s had piano bars, etc. in their upper decks once upon a time (early 70’s perhaps?). Once an airline figured they could eliminate that in favor of more seats, everybody followed suit. Who is the only remaining airline today with a bar instead of more seats. Virgin Atlantic. Other than them, I don’t see anybody else putting casinos and hotels in their A380’s.
Just a thought, you think Hawaiian will be taking delivery of any Airbus aircraft anytime soon? 😉
I was looking for a link to post, but you beat me to it Steve. Good job. I was going to go out to ONT and check out some of the birds first hand, but I had too much going on yesterday. I’ll surely see an example today when I fly out of ONT headed to HNL.
That’s fair enough. I’m not disagreeing with you. I was just wondering if you had some evidence to your statement, and you did. That indeed could be a possibility.
Actually, I’m going to correct you too, Andrew, just because I’m so anal about that movie. It goes:
Captain Over: Joey, you ever been in a cockpit before?
Joey: No Sir, I’ve never been in a plane before!
Captain Over: You ever…..seen a grown man naked?

I’ve always been a tad cynical but methinks there are ulterior motives behind the repeated cancellations of BA flights to DC…
Oh please elaborate. This should be good.

Many people in the world know KLM. Besides, many people in the world will be hard pressed flying Air France. In particular on one side of the atlantic ;). The brandname KLM is very strong in the US. The brandname Air France is strong as well, but I get the impression it is not as strong.

14 million, that’s quite a bit. ATH handles what, about 10 mil? Yet, ATH probably handles more widebodies than does BRU. ATH gets service from SQ’s 777’s, TG’s MD11/777’s, OA A340’s, LH A300’s, DL 767’s amonst others. This is just speculation on my part.
