Just SO MEAN!! The one machine I so much wanted to fly, after 75 hours on Harts & Hinds, but the squadron re-equipped.

Furricane? So right – just take off the top wing & you’re converted.

Oh, but do remember the undercarriage!!

Graham – as an outsider, I cry with you.

There are only 2 words to describe your misfortune on Sunday – I will print neither!!

Glad I did not accept your kind invitation – Wife hospitalised on Saturday!

    = best wishes, Tim

What photographs. Almost too good to be true!

Thanks for the replies on the Fury – I should have read the first post more carefully!

I see from a recent quote that I’m not alone in my feelings for that aircraft – thought the last paras were spookily similar?

Just a thought – isn’t the Rusian spelling of the 3 aircraft on page 60 a bit unusual??

Just had this in the mail this morning –

“As I had hoped and forecast, the latest issue of ‘Flypast’ (cover date June 2011 but on sale today) has a 32-page special on Operation Barbarossa – the German invasion of Russia in 1941. 12 of the 32 pages are the story and the images of the Wing in action!”

PS – Shame they don’t mention the showing of the new film about the Wing at the IWM on 9 May – the date of the annual commemmoration at the Russian War Memorial.

“Twin row” – does that include the P&W (P47) & the Wright (Vengeance)?

I can now see why I keep getting logged out – it’s to stop me making stupid remarks like flew both F4U & Fw190 & never noticed the smoke.

    Both great ‘planes!

Aha! – that’s what I thought – nearly. Thought he was Engineer Officer. So when might he have got Wg Cdr – as was when I took the photo – at an airfield?

Herewith a bit that his Daughter wrote for my 90th Anniversary Book – produced by No1 Son – ties in?

Great stuff! I’m trying to establish what position my step-uncle held – he flew me in ’35 or ’36.
