Paint? So far as I recall.
Fuel? And they could still get airborne??

PS I seem to be the only one whose face is exposed. How about the rest of you biting the bullet? Much nicer – & helpful – to know who one’s talking to.
Here we are again! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v164/photo04/RAF2/100th-2.jpg
Without u/c, they couldn’t be off-loaded & practice flown?
Ammunition? Bigger ammo tanks? Unlikely?

“Been there“? Skin deep!! Just re-reading “The Hurricats” & thinking myself SO fortunate in missing all the “fun”.
And live & learn? An early CAM ship was “bound for Houston, Texas”. Forgive my ignorance, but even though I’ve flown through their “twin peaks” en route Biggs AFB, never realised that Texas had a seafront.
Go stand in the corner!!

A couple of thoughts.
Note the anti-blast paint on Hurri’s photo.
Strange that it’s the only photo showing the struts?
Engine heating? Engines were run daily.
Shame I can’t locate picture of Hurricane in Russia with heater wraps on.
= Tim
Where did the heat come from??
Note that the Russian run CAM ships were not used in the deep winter.
But I know what it can be like – on our return, we lost a lifeboat & had to offload all our ballast & chip ice off the vital parts. The ship then had to go in for re-fit!
Can you imagine gettig shot of that lot on a scramble??
Getting up that damned ladder with a good roll on was enough!!
Can only add that flying the Rapide/Dominie was like using a sewing machine!!
= Tim
PS Would it have been an 86 or 89 that used to take us to Jersey pre-war, landing in St Aubin’s Bay?
PPS Google suggests it might have been the 84?
Leave it to you. Don’t ‘do’ lunches out!!
That’s good to hear, Dilip!
Food dislikes? Wednesdays or w/e best for me.
= all the best for Christmas, Tim
Sad, Dilip!
= Tim
Never the twain shall part??
Never heard tell on’t!!
They’ve taken Arthur Clowes’ Wasp & put it on another aircraft. Just not PC!! Like taking my Jeep?
Russia? They got the Serial Number wrong.
= Tim
Oh, dear! My spelling.
Thought for a moment that you might be a Squadron Leader!
Makes me bloody furious that they can’t get their details right!!
They got a Russian example wrong too.
= Tim
Yes – nice photo – Arthur Clowes, Wittering, October ’40.

Jeep – one side & I did it.
