You’ve got to hope that AW159 is going to be one of the strongest contenders in this field.

On a note on this piece – I know its likely that the Russians will pick this up, but I wonder what the Indian Navy would think to the Lynx.

India To Buy 50 Utility Copters for Navy

NEW DELHI – The Indian Navy has issued a request for information (RfI) to four companies to purchase 50 light utility helicopters.

The RfI was sent to France’s Eurocopter, Italy’s AgustaWestland, the United States’ Bell Helicopter and Russia’s Kamov Co. The helicopters are intended to replace aging Chetak helicopters bought 30 years ago.

CVA-01 and her sisters would have been fitted with two BS6 250ft stroke catapults and DAX II arrestor gear, most sources regard these as more than adequate for F-14s. Cmdr ‘Sharkey’ Ward, CO of 801 NAS in the Falklands has said that if the CVAs had been built he would have been flying RN F-14s in 82 supported by Hawkeyes. Indeed it is likely the RAF would have bought F-14s in preferrence to the Tornado ADV. Another great ‘what if’…..

Oh now thats a what if I like, something to ponder for a little while.

T-45 Goshawk: “Deliveries [to USN and USMC] are scheduled to conclude in 2009.”

    http://www.naval-technology.com/projects/t45/

I doubt it would be very hard to ‘splice’ the forward section of a Hawk-200 and ‘graft’ it onto the T-45 Goshawk and arrange for 7 hardpoints. I have a hunch the LIFT variant is pretty close to latest Goshawk variant anyway in terms of cockpit. This is soooo do-able. But …. very small demand and so commercially probably not viable!

I dunno – buy 20 Hawks as a trainer / light attack and we will also sell you 10-15modified for Carriers. Im sure BAE would be up for it.

What’s wrong with KA-27 in your view?

just always look a little dated and hap hazard to me – nothing to do with its perfromance or anything – purely aesthetics

The second image is not accurate Otaku 😀 there’s a Palma system after the main cannon. You can see that in the 1st picture. The first Gepard will be delivered this September or October and the second one around November.
And Vietnam is planning to purchase two more Gepard with different configuration.

Yeah I think so too. I guess Tchaikovsky’s music is not fit for this purpose, too 😀

Can some one tell me why people are still purchasing the KA-27 is it any good – shouldnt they be looking for something else. Harbin/ Lynx/ Dauphin 2

What’s the company, then? ATG’s website has been dead for two years. Who is sending out these e-mails? Where are they building the Javelin? With what workforce, since the entire ATG workforce was laid off in December 2007, & most were re-employed by other companies rather quickly? ATG went into Chapter 7 bankruptcy in May 2008. That’s liquidation – not Chapter 11, where the firm continues trading under administration, with a hope of resuming business. Chapter 7 is a sale of all assets & distribution of the proceeds to creditors. The company ceases to exist.

Seriously, I think you should post here the contact details of whoever it is who says they’re making Javelin. Company name, website address, etc. I’d like to know what’s going on, & why a newsletter is being produced for a firm which was liquidated, with news which I can’t find reported anywhere else.

I did wonder a similar thing last time this was brought up.

Although you have to say the plane looks great, ehll BAE should buy it – sort it out and offer two planes for the jet trainer market 😛

There is some (doubtfull) hope for the hms queen elizabeth
but personally, I have no more to the prince of wales (only a dream)
A 130-160 million $ (?200?) piece for the F-35, the british will never have enough money to buy 50-70 aircraft.

We are heading toward 25/35 aircraft … and 1 aircraft carrier … in the best case….
As for the entire cancellation of the program, it is still possible, expecting the end of 2010

dont agree with any of this. Both aircraft carriers are coming and only one will be at sea – 60 F-35 would be enough for that situation. Not great though if you need to surge and put both to sea.

Isnt it more than likely they were testing Patriot ABM – probably looking at the ability of the Saudis to detect the launch – confirm its target (if thats possible) and look at if it was possible to the Patriot ABM to engage?

    Thats what my guess is

unfortunately i dont think any of that will happen. I dont think the UK will in the near future seriously look at adding an anti ballistic missile aspect to the type 45’s,
